  • Comments: Cozumel is a very special place to race. Of the three venues I've done it's currently my favorite. Helps that we know some folks on the island and we go there for vacation to dive as well

  • Comments: This race was a little unorganized and getting to and from the registration area from the resort I stayed at was tricky at times. I was worn out by the time the gun went off. If I do this race again I will sign up earlier and stay closer to the race finish area, which is near registration/expo. The bike course was a little bit long, the swim started late, and there wasn't anything to eat after the race really.

  • Comments: Great race and thank you for the opportunity & support. When I crossed the line I swore to Leisa that this was a one and done experience. Well, by about Thursday I was back on the Ironman site looking for the next race. Unfortunately The Woodlands is sold out so I need to decide if I will do one in 2015. Don't think I will make it back to Cozumel, but I am looking closely at Louisville or Cour d'Alene. I just need to find a way to sell her on the idea. Last big decision is where do I want my tattoo? Leaning toward the standard M-Dot on the right calf but still open to ideas.

  • Comments: I was very happy I chose IMCZ as my first IM. I know there are those out there who can not justify spending $700 for a race, but I will say, for your 1st IM, I highly recommend it. They put on a great race and there were no details which were overlooked. Lastly, I have to say the local support was amazing. The entire island gets behind this race (the 70.3 earlier in the year too) and it was electric. If I do this race again, I will be staying at the Cozumel Palace again becuase convenience is everything and it was incredible.

  • Comments: I DID AN AMAZING PR at this race of 1hr and 45mins better than my first Ironman at Lake Placid!!!!! Really crushed it on the swim and the bike. The swim due to the current and making good decisions and swimming well. And the bike being due to better training, not having to stop AT ALL, and maintaining aero position and hammering it out. Transitions were great and cut them both in half. Didn't have much left on the Third loop of the run, will have to work on that and balancing out salt/water for cramping. Overall: I HAD MY BEST RACE EVER TO THIS POINT!!!

  • Comments: There was a lot of disorganization to this race. Lots of people had no idea about the changed swim start until they showed up race day. Maybe they weren't as connected to email/facebook as we are. My husband's bike special needs bag was no where to be found. There was only one set of porta-pottys on the bike loop. The volunteers were screwing off on the bike and the run course. I saw them squirting each other with the water packs and not even noticing the runners going by. Not a lot of food options on the bike or run. My Husband and I completely discounted this race because of the terrain. BIG MISTAKE. The wind and rain made up for the flat course. A woman in our hotel (who is a 30x Ironman including Kona), told us that this course today with these elements was harder than any other Ironman she's ever done. She dropped out on the run. A very tough bike with the wind. The run would be super easy if there was no rain or 6" deep puddles to run through. The swim, again,

  • Comments: Great race in a beautiful place which keeps you motivated despite of how bad you may be suffering! Pre-race and post-race activities could be a little better (I can only compare with IMTX) but the race location and the support from the locals more than make up for it. I will definitely do this race again in the near future and totally recommend it to others!

  • Comments: I'd do this race again because the venue is beautiful. But the race itself was a disorganized at times, example we were told that we needed to bring our race bags to the T1 area the day before the race, but once we got there, we were told to take the bags to the finish area. At the finish really no food, gatoraide, water and bananas. Be warned about the east side of the island winds they are something else.

  • Comments: Overall a challenging race that lived up to it's reputation for wind, warmth and humidity. Toss in some current and it put a little hurt on a guy. Do not underestimate the flat nature of either the bike or run courses. I'd recommend this race to anyone. Friendly environment. Good people. Nice fellow competitors.

  • Comments: pictures of the swim - I saw the famdamily and was waving to them, kiss for my most ardent supporter (other than the hair guy), some of my kids running with me on lap 2, after the race (attired in Med Tent attire - yay! Scored another shirt and ENORMOUS boxer shorts!!???!). last picture is snorkeling the day after - I had to go for a swim in the calm seas to allow it to redeem itself. ;)

  • Comments: I loved the race. It was a great course and very well managed. The issues I had were of my own making. Even though I'm dissappointed with my time I'm thrilled with my ability to push through. I learned a ton and will make sure I train better on my nutrition intake.

  • Comments: Still love this race. It took a toll on me knowing I wasn't having a good bike, but I was able to survive and still put an OK time in. Now, I want to do better! This race is well supported, and this year the heat wasn't as big a factor, but that may have been because I was moving slower.

  • Comments: This was a disappointing Ironman on some accounts. The pre-race dinner was so poorly run it was unacceptable. It lacked some of the same excitement and feel of a normal Ironman and the post race food and area was terrible as well. That being said, there are other parts that were great. The location was amazing and being able to vacation afterwards is great. The volunteers and locals could NOT have been more supportive. Athletes were treated like celebrities all week. With a few tweaks this could be a great race, but I can't say it was one of my favorites.

  • Comments: This was our first international IM and there were good and bad differences. It was amazing to be out there with our group and what could be better than finishing an IM and spending another few days at an all inclusive resort. Hard to top the post-race recovery.

  • Comments: This was my first Ironman and I loved every minute of the race. I even enjoyed the pain that came during and after it. The city of Cozumel was wonderful. The crowd and support we got during the race was great. My family and girlfriend were there to cheer me on too, which was really nice. I enjoyed seeing them and hearing them cheer each lap on the bike and run. I am not going to do a full IM next year, as I want to enjoy some time with my family and girlfriend, but in two years I will definitely do another one. I don't think I'll do this race again because there are so many out there and I want to see more places and different races, but I would absolutely recommend it for anyone who wants a different Ironman to enjoy. If money and time weren't an object and I could do as many races as I wanted, I'd go back for sure. Many thanks to the people of Cozumel, the volunteers, race organizers, and competitors for making my first Ironman experience so great. Running the last 500 meters with the

  • Comments: The race is very well organized, only once on the bike did I hit an aid station where they didn't have water(it was restocked the next time around) and the run stations had anything I needed. The volunteers were very helpful, the shirts were nice, and most everything was pretty convenient. The only problems were minor(I've mentioned them already), but I'd only rate a race a '5' if it was flawless.

  • Comments: Crazy support from the locals. It was awesome coming into to town on your bike streets closed and people cheering you on, able to see my wife every lap but one, missed her on a bike lap. She was the best support for me out there. Having my brother on the course was great too, seeing him on the run was good. Kept me up knowing he was never going to lap me. lol or me him. Overall awesome experience. Wouldnt trade it for the world. Work harder on the bike for next time.

  • Comments: This is a great race. It's a first class event. The local residents make it a great experience. They come out and support you by volunteering or just watching and cheering. They really embrace the event. They make you feel like a professional athlete. A kid even asked for my autograph!! The organizers of the event also have it together. The transitions, aid stations and special needs areas were perfect. My only complaint is they did not have enough C02 for everyone. You can't fly with it so you count on them to have it for sale at the expo. They ran out. I heard 2 rumors. One person said they had plenty, but people were buying about 10 each. Another person said they only had 2000 available for 2300 athletes. Not sure who to believe. It didn't turn out to be an issue.
