  • Comments: The people of Coeur d'Alene are awesome. Every place I went to, I heard encouragement from the locals. If you're there doing the IM, then to them you're almost a celebrity. The location is absolutely stunning as well. I have to rate this race as one of the very best. NA Sports for all the grief they get really run a tight ship, and it shows. The little details are not overlooked, and everything runs like clockwork.

  • Comments: It's Ironman...it's always good. The organization, events, volunteers, everyone...all just awesome. And the people of Coeur d'Alene are amazing! They get stoked for the race two weeks before it gets there. Can't ask for a better venue and better specators!

  • Comments: I didn't believe I would ever do this distance again, but now there is no doubt another IRONMAN is in my future. A++++ race all around. Absolutely nothing to complain about other than a certain CT BTer not doing the race with me.

  • Comments: The city of CdA and the volunteers were wonderful. I told someone I'd never do another IM again....I lied. It might not be soon because of the overall expense involved, but I will be back to an IM sometime. Sorry for the long RR...but it's a long race! :)

  • Comments: The best thing about this year was getting to meet more BT people. Any time you can see a friendly face out on the course it helps. The Friday morning swim was enjoyable in that respect. I especially enjoyed time with Bonnie (leopard8996) and our Saturday mini-brick. I saw her multiple times out on the course. I'm taking a break from IM's for at least a year to concentrate on getting faster and being more competitive in my AG. Tri's are the best and rather then survive the long ones I want to try and win the short ones. By short I mean 70.3 and below, and by win I mean my AG. Not that I could excell at a 70.3 but considering how I felt after one swim lap, one bike lap, and one run lap of IMCDA I would place better, in my opinion, at the HIM distance.

  • Comments: We truly had perfect weather. We had a little wind on the bike but nothing unmanageable. This is an excellent race and the people are simply amazing. The scenery is beautiful and the bike course is tough without being impossible. The run is a reprieve from the bike as it's mostly flat.

  • Comments: this was a totally awesome race, it was so great to meet lots of BT peeps, and there were tons that I didn't get a chance to meet, a huge thanks to Ed for supporting me during all my training and for all the miles he logged during race day to be out there on the course to encourage me, huge thanks to my coach Will who knew how to get me trained and to the start uninjured, also a big thanks to everyone here at BT who helped encourage me, and a huge thanks to all my training buddies in VA Beach who helped me train for this journey

  • Comments: First, the fans and volunteers are what make this race an overwhelming success. I think this is probably the coolest and most difficult thing I've ever done. I was an emotional trainwreck leading up to the race and still am to some extent since it hasn't all quite sunk in yet. Also, the other BTers that we met were all great and easily the best cheerleaders on the course. The girl in short shorts with a cowboy hat and cowboy boots is a very close second though! Really, just the atmosphere of an Ironman is one of the most unique around. Walking around the expo in the days leading up to it I ran into Heather Fuhr, Paula Newby-Fraser, Heather Gollnick, Desiree Ficker, Viktor Zyemstev, Greg Welch, and others. At the end of the day, Adam (Gearwhore), Scott (sbreaux) and I went to watch the last 1.5 hours of finishers. There's just nothing else like it.

  • Comments: I made it a point to have fun on this race. I danced with a few people, hi fived anybody who put their hand up. Thanked all volunteers and everybody who said I was doing good. Made a point of stopping and thanking a child in a wheelchair who came out to watch..breaks my heart. It was a humbling experiance to be passed by so many people while you wait for the great bike techs to fix your bike. with out them I probably would have finished a lot later. I love my new Cervelo Team Soloist. I am considering a name right now but have yet to think of one. I absolutly loved the race. Lots of support from the locals and the Volunteers were the greatest. I had a blast. Thank you to all who yelled my name. I WILL DO ANOTHER ONE!

  • Comments: The Clydesdale times and category results aren't up yet but when they are put up I'll fill in my category placings. Of course I'm biased, but I think IMCDA is the best there is! Comments I hear from out of towners seem to confirm this as everyone loves it here. The friendly people, the stunning natural beauty, and the awesome, awesome volunteers make it a fantastic race. I have my registration certificate if I want to sign up for next year. I'm going to volunteer at IM Canada also to get a slot up there. So now I have to decide if I want to do 2 of them next year! Whew! We'll see. Thanks to all you BT'ers who stayed up late on race night and kept track of us out there. You guys rock!

  • Comments: Oddly enough, one of the highlights of the entire trip was staying until midnight to see the last finishers coming in. The finish line was awesome, and seeing all of those people come in just under the cutoff time was amazing. You've never seen anyone in the world happier than a 16:50:00 Ironman. As far as the race, NAS nailed it. Volunteers were spectacular and well informed, the race was ultra organized and everything was easy and smooth. They make it possible to just focus on the race and do your best. I loved the entire Ironman experience of being here and taking part in the race.

  • Comments: June 24, 2007 just wasn't my day to be an Ironman. It's very frustrating to spend 6 months of training to have it go down like this, but you know what, you can't sit around and mope about it. I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason and I'm the type of person that if I get knocked down, I have to pick myself up and move on. So what if CDA didn't go the way I planned, believe me, I will be back to CDA and I'll be bringing along some unfinished business. For now, I'm picking myself up and looking at doing The Great Floridian Iron Distance Race on October 20, 2007. The past six months have been an experience to say the least. If you would have seen me 2 years ago training for an Olympic Distance tri, the idea of me doing an Ironman was out of the question. I already had a hard enough time training for a .9 mile swim, 25 mile bike, and a 10K. In the past six months of training I was able to work up to a 3 mile continuous swim and a 105 mile bike even though it seemed

  • Comments: Overall, I would say that training for and completing Ironman was a fantastic experience. I'm glad that we set a really high goal and worked toward it, and race day was much more fun than I would have expected. Along the way, I kept hearing the funny comments of people whose bodies were breaking down, but whose humor was still intact. I loved that. Now I'm so happy to have the semblance of a normal life back, with relatively unscheduled free time and the possibility to work on our house and volunteer and see movies. I want to rediscover what I love about working out--running without a goal or schedule, biking to lunch with friends on a Saturday and swimming just because I like it (in a pool, of course). I can't wait to get back to yoga and weight lifting, and sign up for my next marathon. As far as the race goes, I loved all of the courses and the volunteers were amazing. Race organization was phenomeal. I only have three, real complaints. For the swim, the buoys used were

  • Comments: This race was far better than any race I have ever done. Much of the credit goes to the race director and the organization, but the majority of the success goes to the citizens and volunteers of Coeur d'Alene without whose endless and eager support many athletes would not have finished. I am so thankful to have done my first IM in such an amazing town. Thank you!!!!!

  • Comments: Best of all, after getting up at 5 am the next morning to make my 8:30 flight home, and 15 hours of travel, I got home at 10:30 EST. At 11:30, my wife (who wasn't able to come to the race because she was 8+ months pregnant) informed me it was time to head to the hospital. At 8:49 the next morning, 3 weeks early, my son was born!!! Talk about a crazy, exhausting, yet completely exhilarating 72 hours. Thank god I made it home in time!!!

  • Comments: I consider the five people who did this Ironman with me to be my family. Despite the miles that separate us on an every day basis, they are so close to my heart and understand me in a capacity that most others cannot. I am so grateful to have raced with them and shared my first Ironman with them. I can't wait to do more races with this fine group of athletes and friends. Each one has inspired me in their own way. Tim: I can't say enough times thank you for always being there for me and having patience with me when I get too stubborn. You have inspired me in your sheer compassion and humbleness. Brad: The way you persevered from the hole in your tire is amazing. You didn't let it ruin your day, and came back to kick the marathon's arse. Your attitude is one that I hope I can duplicate if mechanical problems ever arise in a race. Kristin: You are a machine. You are out there to have fun, and no matter the amount of pain you are in, you always gut it out. I love that about you. You

  • Comments: What an absolutely amazing experience! NA Sports puts on one heck of an event--first class from Thursday though Monday. The community support is fantastic. Everyone I met, even those not involved in any way with the event, was so welcoming and enthusiastic. I cannot say enough about IMCdA!

  • Comments: I can't say enough about the volunteers and support. The town really embraces the event. There were on a few stretches where you didn't have crowd support. This includes the whole run and bike course. Neighbors would just sit in their driveway. Volunteers were tremendous. They truly make the race.
