  • Comments: First race was the Chicago sprint triathlon! The organizers and volunteers were the best, and the weather held up pretty well for the entirety of the race. The race itself went fine, missed out on my goal of sub 1:40, but in hindsight didn't consider the long T1 times so overall was happy to have finished at 1:42 and still relatively fresh.

  • Comments: Very well organized, but too crowded. I just wanted to race with my son again and his fiancé who was running her first triathlon ever.

  • Comments: I think I wrote enough about this race above haha I am extremely proud of myself, especially the swimming part - after being scared of super cold water, and also limited by "the slowest stroke" I enjoyed it a lot.

  • Comments: I love big races and this one is the biggest! While it is big, I never really felt overly crowded. Yeah you can get knocked around on the swim, transitions can be a little tight, but it's a great race! I'd do it again, for sure. If the transition area was not so far from the swim, I'd probably give it 5...but the two runs (swim in and run out) of the transition area really made it challenging. Fun day, great atmosphere and good fan support!

  • Comments: Race organiztion from the expo on was sketchy. Soo many odd choices by the race organizers. My overall experience was not positive. BTW did I mention there was no Clyde division. WTF! One of the biggest races in the country without this division. I have been to races 1/4 of this size with 20+ clydes participating.

  • Comments: Overall, I am satisfied with the race. While I am not in the shape I was in a year ago, my performance was similar to the one I had at Malibu last September. I have some work to do before the season finale in South Carolina, but I think this ‘walk through’ demonstrated that I am on my way back. In all, it was a well run event. However, due to the size and the site location, it was challenging. Things were spread out and very crowded, from the expo, to transition, and event start and end points. Nice to do once, but I don’t think I would return. For being a single transition race (as opposed to point to point), it wasn’t as spectator friendly as I would have expected.

  • Comments: If I had paid for this race, I would have felt I got my money's worth. The entire event was well-supported, very organized, and FUN! The size of transition is the most overwhelming part. Once you realize you're not racing against 6,000 people at once, it makes the race much smaller and easier to manage mentally. It's basically just the people in your swim wave. Once you're past that, it's much more of an individual experience. I would absolutely do this race again, but next year it'll be the International distance. Happy racing all, thanks for reading!

  • Comments: I might want to try the Olympic next year... But I really like that the sprint goes first and gets the best transition racks... Weather was perfect this year. I knocked 19 minutes off my time from last year- mostly off the swim, but a few minutes off T1, bike and run too. I'd like to think that was me getting better but I think it was mostly the lack of crazy waves and wind. Overall very happy with how this race turned out!

  • Comments: Despite the crummy bike course condition, the sprint race is a lot of fun at Chicago. It's not that crowded yet as the Olympic waves haven't gone off and the heat of the day is later.

  • Comments: This was a good first race - except the choppy swim. The bike and run are flat, there's TONS of people cheering you on, and you get a finisher medal, and really, who doesn't want one of those?

  • Comments: Very glad I was doing the sprint, and had an early wave. There was still tons of traffic during the swim, but the bike was pretty open. I can see why a lot of people nix the Olympic. I watched a lot of the swim for the olympic after I was done, and it looked like a total mess. I can only imagine what it would be like on the bike course. I will likely do the race again, but will leave my first olympic distance to a smaller venue.

  • Comments: Even though the size of this race had me nervous, I only really noticed it on the bike. It was really fun doing a BIG race for once, but I still might prefer the smaller ones.

  • Comments: Considering there were 8000 people at this race, and logistically, it was difficult due to its size, it was very well organized. I have to say that I don't have a single complaint about how the race was run, other than I didn't like having the run portion on the grass next to the paved trail WTF??

  • Comments: My goal coming into this race was to make the top 10 in my age group and I ended up 10th! Overall, it wasn't as good of a race as Pleasant Prairie but I was happy with it. The best part of it, even over taking 10th, was that after the swim I passes a ton of people and NO ONE PASSED ME in the bike or run!
