  • Comments: I had a lot of fun at this race. It was my first Triathlon but I did not feel overly nervous. My one complaint is the surface from the exit point of the swim into the transition area. The trail was very rough, lots of rocks, and even pieces of broken glass. I saw several people bleeding from small cuts in their feet in transition. Other than that, I can't wait for my next triathlon!

  • Comments: Even though I didn't really train like I should have, this was my first race ever! I had so much fun even after the hell that was the swim and I finished! For me the best part of the race was all the people cheering the racers on the entire time (and when they call your name right before you cross the finish line)! Also, a special shout out to Amyitalia who inspired me to do this in the first place, i'm gonna be hardcore about training next year and I already can't wait!

  • Comments: I was surprised that a race this big could be so organized. My swim started at exactly 6:34am, just like it was supposed to. The atmosphere was awesome. So many triathletes (wannabees like me). Lots of first timers too (but I had done 2 smaller ones before this one and am glad I did....it could be overwhelming). Tons of volunteers and spectators cheering us on...it was really cool. I'm planning on doing the Oly next year (yikes!) Overall a great race and a wonderful experience.

  • Comments: Loved the course! Nice and flat, but I didn't push myself hard enough, even on the run. Great end to the season, but surprised with my result even with my lackluster performance. I don't even know why I'm so upset... I'm in the top 3%. I guess I'm just that competitive. Upset that I didn't get the correct size of shirts... why the heck did they even want to know your size if they don't have any left over for you? I know I came late for sign in, but seriously. But I will be back next year FOR SURE doing the olympic distance. Great race. Hopefully my aerobic base will be better, and with over a year of training (instead of 3 months), hopefully I can do great things. I don't want to sound cocky, but next year will really decide if I want to race seriously. I did great this season with not that much training, and hopefully I can keep making gains like I have been.

  • Comments: I've heard people complain about the size of this race and the logistical nightmares but I had a fantastic time. I was in a very early wave, so that probably made a difference but I found that the swim and bike courses were not at all crowded and that all of the logistics went off without a hitch. Now I would not have wanted to be in the F 25-29 Oly wave, I think they had to wait until like almost 10am to start. If I do this race again it will be the sprint and not the Oly, as I like the early start time.

  • Comments: I have only done 4 triathlons over the last 6 years and they have all been Chicago sprints (2 age group & 2 mtb divisions) and they've always been a blast. It's especially nice to start & end early and be able to spectate & enjoy the festivities. Although I plan to finally upgrade to a road/tri bike and do some long course races next season, I'll definitely come back and do the sprint at Chicago once again.

  • Comments: Plenty of congestion during the race. Long lines for everything including the port-a-johns and getting back into the transition area. The course is flat and fast and it is pretty cool racing along the lake shore drive.

  • Comments: Will I bump up to the OLY next year???? Not sure...don't like the idea of waiting around until noon to start, and I sure love the early start time with the sprint. I also heard the swim and bike are really congested, so I may just stay with the sprint on this one, and do the OLY the weekend before at Pleasant Prairie since that seemed to work out pretty good. The other positive thing about the sprint, we always get the best bike rack positioning within transition, so who wouldn't like that. Since this is my last race this year (triathlon at least) I would like to do what Crowny2 did, and thank some people for all of their support. First off would have to be my 3x IM sister...she was at 4 out of 5 races this year (told her to stay home for Accenture, too crowded) cheering me on, good and bad, and even with Accenture, I could tell how excited and proud she was of how well I had done. I couldn't have made it through, especially last weekend at my first OLY without her... The

  • Comments: Pre-race goal : to beat last year's time of 1:38:32. I cut 6 1/2 minutes off last year's time!! Even though I probably could have pushed more and cut even more time off....I'm happy with the results. This is such a killer triathlon!!!! BTW, I heard 8700 participants this year! Another Guiness World Record

  • Comments: First Tri, it was fantastic, the whole experience was great. Expo was really good, pick-up was no hassle, even trnasition with all the people was not a problem. Will attempt the olympic next year. Only bummer was first mile of the run, too much open space and no one around(it was strange to be alone considering the amount of people in the race). One other phenomenal feature was the trakcing for your spectactors, the text messages helped my spectators know where I was.

  • Comments: Very nice volunteers. I would extend the stairs on the swim exit further into the water. There was a run between the run and transition during the first part there was padding on the ground then there wasnt and there were a lot of rocks and crevices. It would have been better to continue the padding on all of the cement part. The running on the grass was good but on the cement without padding,it was very bad. The volunteers in the first aid tent were very very nice. The medal is awesome!!!! Very nice and lots of color and a place to engrave name and time on back. The racers were nice too. After I recived the medal there was a little boy volunteering and handing out cups of Gatoraide, He was soo sweet. Afterwards there was a party with live music and lunch. After that there was a drawing for prizes, I thought how awesome is this!!!! I never win anything though. I had a fun time. Yes, I would do this race again! Hopefully next year and I hope to train and race in a group. It is more fun

  • Comments: This was originally my A race. But after I got there, I just decided to have fun. I'm going to do it again next year, but I think next year, this will be my Oly bump race. That way, there is no pressure to improve from this year, I will just have fun, all over again.

  • Comments: Very, very organized event. Can't wait to do it again next year! I'll have to shoot for under 1:30 For my first triathlon...I was thrilled at my results. I told my self, under 2:00 would fine...1:45 would be great. Finishing in 1:38:32 was amazing!! It was great to have family cheering me on. My wife follow me on the seawall during the swim. My parents, sister, and brother-in-law (along with my wife) were there during the run with hand made signs in hand. I am now a triathlete!!
