  • Comments: After the race there was a BBQ. They had chicken legs, veggie burgers with 2 pasta dishes. They limited your food to a max of 2 chicken pieces each for my wife and I. You were also checked off so you could not return on line. For this reason I will never do this toughman event. What a cheap thing to do. I do 1 Full IRONMAN and 4-6 halfs a year. This has never happened ever.BS

  • Comments: Tough course... the name is fitting. But it's a beautiful run course, much of which is shaded. Plenty of enthusiastic volunteers too. I don't have any other HIMs to compare it to, but I think it was a great experience.

  • Comments: This is my second year here. The yellow jackets are CRAZY at the finish line park. Nowhere else on the course. They were all over the food and finish line drinks. I had to fend off about 5 flying around my bike to get out of transition. I took my stuff off to the side then came back to get my bike. I didn't get stung but lots of people were commenting on the bees.

  • Comments: If it wasn't for my run time - I'd have been happier. I was anticipating an 11 min mile and did a 13.27 - big difference.. Bottom line was I just set my personal best - now I have something to beat!

  • Comments: This is a nice varied race with great support. Everything happened on time and there was hot food waiting for us. They even had local school cheer-leading squads along the run, and a marching band near the finish.

  • Comments: this event is 98% fantastic. here are my two minor complaints. what the hell is up with the BEES!!!! there's just too many and i wanted out of there the second i saw one. my only minor(and it's not a big deal) complain. it's more of a wish. bags of ice to carry in between aid stations would be cool. so if you dont care for bees and want a challenging course. this is for you.

  • Comments: Awesome event, very satisfied with overall performance given my current experience, swim ability, and ankle strain issues. Things fell into place and I err'd on the side of caution. it paid off.

  • Comments: Awesome race for first timers!!!! I raised $1300 for Cancer Research and the overall charity total was over $200k!!! Toughman is a great race!

  • Comments: Considering this race is only three years old and has doubled in size each year I think it is very impressive how Richard Izzo and the team have got it working so smoothly. Definitely on my list for next year.

  • Comments: Fantasitc race! Extremely well organized, more volunteers than you can shake a stick at, aid stations everywhere! I have no idea why this race isn't more popular than it is. Fantastic! I'd do it again in a heartbeat! I made is a priority to thank every single volunteer, police officer, race organizer or cheering spectator I passed on the course. No mattter how tired or out of breath I was, I was constantly shouting "Thank You" and giving thumbs up's! Everyone was so fantastic and made this race PERFECT!

  • Comments: The Westchester TOUGHMAN is a class act race for certain! The volunteers were exceptionally friendly and supportive- both on check-in day and during the race. (I especially like the young lady who commented that she couldn’t believe I was 45 when she marked it on my leg.) The little details like our first names labeled on our race bibs for spectators to be able to cheer us on by name, excellent freebies in nice gear bags-including TOUGHMAN logo race belts, and numbered stickers on the bike racks with “Have a great race Andrea.” Seriously- having numbered spots on the racks is wonderful. In many tri’s you fight for space, people move your stuff, and you feel cramped. They even had a carpeted path from the swim exit to the transition area with baby pools to clean your feet from the sand and volunteers designated as wetsuit strippers. One volunteer called out that you can even request a guy. Also a decent vendor expo and great music blaring from the park.

  • Comments: Overall, despite the logistics issue of getting to the race it was a great race and it is really "tough"! The staff and voluteers (for the most part) were supportive, gracious and helpful and the race director was very patient as I'm sure I drove him nuts leading up to the race with my pestering about the travel arrangements. I would recommend this race to anyone looking for a challenge, a beautiful race site and who has a car to get there! lol
