  • Comments: Great race...well organized, contrary to what I read about last year's race. Fair race until Mile 11.5...that hill is brutal for that late in the race, in my humble opinion. The finisher's t-shirt is crap, just like last year...sad. Overall I would give this race an 8 out of 10 and will do it next year!

  • Comments: This really is a great race...tons of volunteers and spectators..I just wasn't ready for it...I think bringing my mp3 player next time would have helped out tremendously.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: I love the new course! It's hard and hilly and will be a beast if the weather gets bad. However, there is a sense of acomplishment after running this course that was missing with the old downhill course. If you want an easy race, do a 5k. Marathons and Half Marathons are supposed to be hard.

  • Comments: I would definitely do this race again. I'm trying to convince my wife to run it with me next year as her first half mary!

  • Comments: Since this was my first half, I was really hoping for a fancy t-shirt. Boy was I disappointed. It was the sorriest excuse for a race shirt I have seen yet. Oh well. It was still a great weekend in Austin with friends.

  • Comments: The start line was chaos. I guess it started on time although I get the sense it was a little late (I didn't have on a watch). Spectators were mixed among runners, runners were not grouped properly according to ability (slow people up in front, for instance), no consideration for the safety of runners behind you (clothing/water bottles/etc tossed in the path of runners, who could not see these hazards due to the massive crowd), there were plenty of water stops, but First water stop didn't have enough volunteers -- there was a wait to get a cup of water, the bathrooms at Austin High which are NEVER locked, were locked, and couldn't even use a bush cause some pervert was peeking over the bridge above. I was familiar with the course as I had ran it twice before, so I knew how to react to the hills. There were plenty of cheering spectators and music on first part of the course, but we could have used some musical encouragement after Mile 9, too. The finish area was also confusing -- I heard

  • Comments: There were no finisher shirts, that sucked! Everything was outside, and it was sooooo cold. The only post race food was a small cup of soup, bananas, and small granola bars, not too impressive.

  • Comments: Parts of the race were organized and parts were not. The first two - three water stops did not have enough volunteers or PowerAde. I ended up pouring water for myself. Regardless, I am glad there were volunteers out there and I thanked them. I liked the soup compared to the typical pizza. But there was no water or PowerAde once you left the finish line area. I would have liked to see the rest of the finishers cross the finish line…I can understand why they would not let us go back through the finish line area. But we had to walk a block to get back to the finish line…then push through the crowds...and we were not allowed back to the finisher’s area. I suppose it helped with congestion and kept spectators out of the finisher’s area…just would have liked to see others cross the finish. The packet pick up...I don't know what happened. It took me 30 mins to get in Palmer Events Center because of all the traffic. Then another 45 mins to get my packet, which was a bit disappointing. A mini-Cliff

  • Comments: Last years Freescale Half/Full Marathong was organized much better than this years. I had to run a mile to the starting line because the traffic was miles longs. The start was at Freescale Headquarters which only has two ways in - not a good idea if 13000 people are coming. It was delayed by 30mins because the roads had iced over creating more traffic. I had never been so cold during a race! The volunteers were great at the water stations but since the temperature barely reached 30 degrees there were hardly and spectators. The only way I'll do this race agains is if the start is held in a different location.

  • Comments: This is probably my best race ever. Very cold (for Austin) conditions didn't get me down. Having done all my long runs this winter at 5 AM, I was used to running a long way in 20-40 degree weather. The course was fast and enjoyable. Lots of cheering from the brave folks who were out in the cold. Parking congestion at the start was poor, and post-race food was lacking, but these things happen. For my first half marathon, I couldn't be happier with my performance.
