  • Organised?Yes
  • Events on time?Yes

  • Lots of volunteers to help?Yes
  • Plenty of drink stations?Yes

  • Post race activities? Average
  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: Was a bit annoyed with the volunteers and the race packs this year. USM and their competitor gifts were average. No towel or backpack or anything for the OD. Volunteers stood there and watched me vomit at the finish line and not one person asked if I was ok.

  • Comments: They forgot the Athena presentations! And then they got our times wrong - I suspect they have us in the wrong wave because our swim times are exactly 5min out. Not happy with that and will let them know soon. I had a good race and I enjoyed myself. I wanted to beat last year's time, but I missed the mark by 1 lousy minute! I am sunburnt and scrubbing off those tattoo numbers was freaking painful (methylated spirits came in handy) but honestly, I will be back next year. :)

  • Comments: I don't think it was as good this year as last year. I was a bit disappointed that they dismantled the timing for the people that were still out on the long course to make way for the elites. I know they were the headline event, but come the hell on. They should have run it on the Saturday like they were meant to last year.

  • Comments: I had a great time today. After last week, I doubted whether the OD was for me, but now I know it is. And, racing 2 ODs back to back was okay. Last week was a huge learning curve. :) Burning through 2000cals is fun! I have decided not to be ashamed by racing as an Athena. If the category is available, then I'm going to race it. If not, then I'm in the 35-39 and finishing somewhere around 20th (Bring on Shepp 70.3)! It will be very interesting to see how I go in the long course on March 18. Winning is stupidly addictive though. I've decided it is dangerous to win because now I want to win all the time and as such put a lot of pressure on myself to go hard!

  • Comments: Unlucky for the organisers to have such crappy weather the day before when Registration and Bike racking was supposed to happen as well as the other events... Good to have an event at home though!!!

  • Comments: Even though the events on Saturday were cancelled, I think they handled things pretty well. I think they needed more drink stations around the place, especially for the hacks like me. I struggled the 2.5km between each drink station.
