  • Comments: Rev3 Anderson is a really nicely done race. It was my first 70.3, and I was really impressed at the big-time feel, even with a fairly small field. The volunteers were numerous and friendly, the bike course was well-marked with officers directing traffic where needed, and the run was diabolical. I would do this race again (once the pain from the first time wears off), and/or volunteer for it in the future.

  • Comments: This is a great race! It is a shame that the number of racers has decreased due to Augusta 70.3 the weekend before and now Rev3 Anderson the weekend after. There is plenty of speed to race against, still. The course is awesome. The swim is the correct distance, and could be a fast swim on a non-windy day. The bike course of power rollers is perfect for someone solid on the bike. It is a gamble if you will have wind or not. With wind, it can be a tough day, but if you are lucky to not have wind or a tailwind, the bike course would be blistering fast. The run is quality IMO. You are either up or down with a few flat spots in between, nothing killer, but there are definitely some hills on this course. The final hill is the perfect way to earn your man-card, short and sweet. Even though I got my butt kicked throughout the day, and all the mental blunders, I will definitely be back to the race. If anyone is looking for an alternative from Augusta or Rev3, I would suggest looking

  • Comments: I like that this race has gotten smaller. When I raced it last in 2008 there were 700+ people! Now it's down under 250. I had a better race in 2008 by about 14 mins but it was a month later in the year so it was cooler and my fitness level was farther along. Still, what a surprise when I sent Deb to go check on my final numbers and she came back with the first place plaque for Masters Clydesdale! A nice bonus for a long and fruitful day. I have renewed hope in my IM FL quest this year. My bike worked perfectly thanks to Atlanta Cycling again. The volunteers were very good this year with a lot of enthusiasm and humor. Nice touch with the spray canisters too. My only comments are: more body markers, put the scale inside transition and put the buoys out on the swim course the night before so they are straight! Otherwise, it was fun to be back in SC.

  • Comments: Setup Events does a great job every time. I wonder what will happen to this race seeing the participation numbers going down. I hope they can figure out a way to keep it alive.

  • Comments: Only one comment - did a warm bath and Ibuprofen Sunday night. Very little soreness or stiffness Monday. Got a low-grade bug Tuesday, ran its course thru my body and the rest of the week, finished Friday at 182 pounds versus pre-race 190 weight. Finally feeling human again, invigorated and planning for next year!

  • Comments: Last year I 100% bonked on the run portion of this race. My goal for 2009 was to come back to race smarter. I trained harder this year than last, and I raced smarter. My time this year was approx 50 min faster than last year's time. This was my "A" race for the year, and I'm very pleased with the results. Even though I'm very pleased with the outcome of the race I can only rate this race as a 3. Most of the roads on the bike course were pretty rough. Also the food after the race was only decent at best (the ice cream was good).

  • Comments: This is a small race compared to the other HIM and IM I've done, but I had a good time, and as always Setup Events did a bang-up job running it. I was a bit disappointed about the road quality on parts of the bike course -- not really the chip and seal portion (which is super-short and not that bad) but some of the other parts. It was nothing dramatically bad, but it did grate on one's nerves a bit.

  • Comments: Race did not start on time. Also, why do the over 40 women have to go in the second to the last swim wave? That puts us out on the course (especially on the run) at the worst part of the day (heat). Not all 40 and over women are slow...........

  • Comments: I have only done this race once before and liked it even though I didn't finish very elegantly. In 2006 I tanked the run because of poor nutrition and hydration. It was still a PR that stood for two years. This race was my PR and a podium finish for third place even with the penalty! My first true hardware. I'm very happy with the outcome here. This was a much better performance than Gulf Coast on a more difficult bike and run. I was using this platform as a dress rehearsal for IM FL. My two concerns are: if I had to turnaround and swim back to get the 2.4 IM length I would've been dead. And, I will need to be much more patient and ride and run within the speed limit to have a successful IM FL. Great friends attended this race and it was awesome to see everyone do so well. It was a very fast day for many people. The overall experience was great and the volunteers were very patient and it was well organized. I truly would like to come back to SC.

  • Comments: Great race, well organized, great course, lots of great volunteers, and a very supportive competitors. Extra thanks go to NAMC. It is amazing how supportive they are, I'm honestly not sure I would have made it this far without them. Extra Extra thanks to Kristen and Jack. I KNOW I would not have made it this far if they were not supportive and cheering me on.

  • Comments: setup events always does a nice job. Liked the course a lot, volunteers did great. Race started 12 minutes late, but overall a great time. Probably will do again at some point despite the long drive to get there.

  • Comments: Officially I took 29:28 off of my time from last year. I knew I had a good chance at PR'ing, but I didn't think I would do it by this amount... I was figuring about :15 or so. I wonder what I could have done if I was properly recovered from WI and this had been my A race. Oh, and my age group was fast. The top 15 women in the 35-39 age group were sub 5:50.

  • Comments: The course was nice and the volunteers were very helpful. Some better training or organization might have helped with the volunteers on the run, but they were friendly and eager to help so I can't fault them for any miscues. This is a great race. I loved every minute of it, and would definitely come back to do it again.

  • Comments: So I 'm pretty excited for B2B. I sub 11 hour race is looking extremely doable. With some race wheels (I've rented a set of Zipp 1080s for the race) and on a flat course, 5:45 at least on the bike should be easily within my range. Add a sub 4 hour marathon and a 45 minute sim (its a completely down-current swim, and that adds up to 10:45 with conservative transitions.

  • Comments: It is hard for me to have a positive opinion because I was so miserable on the run yesterday. I have certainly had a few bad marathons but even those I still had a good time or could find something positive in my performace: I bonked in the heat at ING but still qualifieed for Boston. And I ran my second slowest marathon at CMM last year because I had GI problems but still had fun. I didn't have fun at all yesterday on the run or the bike. I felt lonely and sad on the bike and was just in miserable pain on the run. I loved the swim though. It was just amazing. And I had fun setting up. And I know the negativity I am feeling is not at all the race's fault so don't let my experience discourage you. I don't think the course was too hard or the conditions bad. The problem is with me and I just need to get over my poor pitiful self. Jsut know that sometimes even when you train hard (I did!) and practice everything and feel 100% prepared things can still happen to make it completely
