  • Comments: I thought that my sister and I were nuts to be doing this. We were celebrating her 60th birthday which was on race day, and I am 65 1/2 so what in heaven's name were we doing?? We should have been having our celebration (me, my daughter Autumn, my sister and her 2 daughters) going to a spa!!! But it was a wonderful experience. I was so impressed with the "average" women doing this race. All ages, shapes, sizes: it was truly inspiring. And my daughter Autumn was our fearless leader, organizing, encouraging, putting up with all of my "I must be nuts to be doing this" etc. She is truly inspiring! I felt so good when I finished and then hearing "and in the 65-69 age group, our 3rd place finisher from Duluth, Mn is Kathleen Clark" was practically like winning the lottery! Almost as good as when I was in labor with baby #2 and heard my husband say" Well, you've got your girl" which was Autumn! I loved the whole experience.

  • Comments: I gave this race a Yes for Organized, because the race itself was organized well....IMO. But the departure? Oh man! A LOOOOOOOONG walk with one hand on the bike, the other on the stroller to the mysterious ReUnite area, then being told that it's not there, walking all the way back, and then another 1+ mile... that was a bit of a planning fiasco, I would say! Loved the whole experience, though, and can't wait to do another one!!!! I was considering an Olympic distance, but really think it might be too much for me right now. I may be better off to actually go through a training program for one and see where my weaknesses are...(there are many, I know).

  • Comments: I really enjoy this race for a lot of reasons -- it's a great venue, the race itself is well-organized and there's something about an all-women's race that has such a different vibe from a mixed race. But - the parking situation has GOT to be fixed. Volunteers were not well-informed about how to get to the reunite area and gave bad directions. The line for the shuttle really detracted from the race; when people started seeing how long it was, it seemed more important to get in line than it did to stick around and see other racers come in.

  • Comments: danskin gets a 4...it was an AWESOME event, with lots of volunteers, and a great venue, and so many amazing women participating. BUT, it was SO big, that everything took a reeeeaaaaallllly long time. this ended up being really hard on the first time triathletes i was with, and for my husband and kids. the lines for the port-a-pots were really long, and the line for the shuttles back to the parking area was insane. still, it was a great race, and it was a VERY good experience overall for my mom, aunt, and cousins. i don't think i'll do it again any time soon...but who knows. (btw, no age group ranks are listed. there were SO many people, i tried to guess at my placement by scanning through the top 100 in my age group - in general, top 10% overall and age group, 10% on swim for both, top 5% on the bike for both, top 25% on the run for both). PICTURES COMING SOON!!!

  • Comments: i did not like this race - the course is challenging and fun but the logistics and coordination was horrible. First - when i got to the packet pick up, they ran out of goodie bags and small shirts (even tho i ordered one) the expo was lame - no gear. Even the body marker was bad. My 6 and 4 were horrible. The poles for the transition area were poorly marked. The volunteers didnt seem to know much. Day of - the parking is far away and the traffic to get into the parking lot was horrible. 20 mins just to get into the lot. The shuttle bus was long and slow - good thing we got there 1hr early. I felt bad for those that were late. not enough potties - and the were poorly situated - in spots where people need to get by, near transition entrance etc. getting around was hard cause all the pathways were either blocked or for competitors only so the spectators had a hard time getting around. leaving was a night mare. They set up a reunite area that of course ended up getting blocked

  • Comments: This is a fabulous event and I would recommend it to any woman just starting out or looking for a "feel good" tri experience. I thought everything was well organized given the sheer numbers of racers and spectators, and though there was a line for just about everything ... racking bikes, porta potties, shuttle buses it seemed to move as smoothly as possible. The best thing was the comraderie among the participants, everybody was so supportive and encouraging - it's hard to even explain. And the community, what a fabulous community! People camped out in their front yards and along the route cheering the racers - that was a first for me! There were tons of volunteers and the course was well supported along the way. The best thing was the swim support - tons of lifeguards, docks positioned all along the swim, kayaks and the volunteer swim angels. My friend swam with a noodle and a swim angel by her side the whole race - where else would that have been allowed?? It built her confidence and

  • Comments: danskin is always fun. I am encouraged that my swim was faster than last year, I ran a lot more than I did last year )last year ITBS had me walking from the start) but a bit disappointed in the bike. I have imporved tremendously from last year, but my time didn;t reflect that.

  • Comments: I would definitely recommend the race. It's for a great cause, I love women-only events, and it was a nice course and race overall. That said, there were lots of volunteers but they didn't know anything so when you asked them a question, none of them had an answer. Quite often they didn't know where to send you to get the answer either. There was also a general air of chaos. And while I was told by multiple women that the organization is worlds better than it was for the past couple of years, I feel like by the 10th anniversary running you would have some of those kinks worked out.
