  • Comments: Totally fun event that I will do again and again. I hadn't trained at all for the event and it showed in my performance. I was glad to have the biking done and overall it was a good time.

  • Comments: Timberman is a quality race and our favorite on the local schedule - a true destination venue on a great norther MN lake. I looked at the results sheets and they didn't have me in the AG placing so I figured since I was on the overall podium I'd get some hardware for that instead. So, we're sitting in the awards ceremony and they start the awards at second place and then they gave a really cool loon carving to the overall winner. So, I'm sitting saying WTF? no AG hardware and no overall hardware?...I know..that's being a little petty but I wanted some bling! Then they announced a Masters winner and they called me up. The woman up front was holding one of the cool loon carvings and I stopped and asked "is that for me?" and she smiled and said "of course!"..I was so stoked! Definitely the best race hardware I've ever gotten. We had a smaller group of Wild River Tri club travel north for this race, but we still ended up with one overall podium and 4 AG podiums. I'd highly recommend

  • Comments: Well, for the first time ever in my 25 races, we didn't stay for the awards so I hope they didn't draw my name for the bike. We had a family reunion to get to and when it was nearing 11:00 and the awards hadn't even started yet, we knew we had to leave. I looked for kanders and leapdog to say goodbye, but didn't find either one. Sorry guys! It was nice to chat with you both. This race is very well run and the shirt is very nice. The only complaint I had was that there weren't enough port-a-johns this year but that's pretty small potatoes in the grand scheme. Hopefully next year the bike course will be back to it's normal route (minus that hill :) ). I think this is my best time at this race (or very close to it) but since the bike course was different this year, I can't really compare or call it a PR for this race. We had a good day though and will be back!

  • Comments: This is a great race in a great part of MN. The swim is great, you can see bottom for the entire swim. The volunteers are great and there was plenty of water available.

  • Comments: This is a very nice race that we'll likely make a yearly event. I really like the bike course, especially. Nice running hats rather than shirts this year, which was a nice change of pace. I'm pretty disappointed with my results for a number of reasons, but the bottom line is that I need to approach my training with renewed dedication going forward. I have a new bike this year, but yet the two races that were repeats from last year both resulted in slower bike times. *sigh* The engine just isn't what it should be. And the run...it just needs SO MUCH work. I have got to get a plan, rather than just going out an plodding for 2 or 3 miles, and calling it good. Clearly that is not working. On the bright side, my husband placed 7th in his age group, which is his best result. Go Mark!
