  • Comments: I really am happy with how this race went. I felt really strong, and really HAPPY the entire time! The only time I felt a single iota of negativity was when that girl flew by me near the school on the way in to the finish! I was out there cheering people on and having a grand ol' ball though. I think I'm in very good shape for this time of year, and am looking forward to the next 21 weeks before IMCHOO!

  • Comments: This was my first triathlon so I don't have much of a barometer with which to gauge but I thought that the race was very well organized. I never wondered where I should be going (except in the water a couple times!) All of the volunteers and the fire/police folks directing traffic were great. I made sure to thank each of them as I passed.

  • Comments: My goal was 4 hrs. with sub goals of 19+ on bike and 9mm on run. I had bronchitis leading up to this race - hence the inhalers - so I was tapered and rested more than I thought I would be. Although my run was a lot slower than I wanted, I did stay strong and push and never gave in so for that, I am glad. A good, hard mentally challenging day out there.

  • Comments: packet pickup was slow, parking was challenging. I was happy the event started on time and with the organization of the event overall. The post-race was a little disappointing, the food was average at best (especially for a late finisher) as well as getting "water" at the end (I don't care for those sugary drinks). Event was good though, if these are the worst issues, they're not doing bad.

  • Comments: Well organized and lots of volunteers. Only drawback was the course itself. Pond was very dirty - like swimming in duck crap. Out & back bike (2 times) and out and back run were somewhat boring.

  • Comments: This was the first time for this distance and my 4th race ever. Had little run training due to injury and I felt it. A fairly easy course for those with the training and experience. The water was so nasty that I dont think I would do it again. I cleaned mud out of my ears for the rest of the day. A very small field which says something. RUN RUN RUN!

  • Comments: This was a nice race, at a good location, with good organization, but the swimming ramp situation held it back. Pirahna has enough experience to know better. Not sure what happened here. If doing this next year, ask about the ramp situation prior to committing. Murky water has never bothered me in my very limited race career (1 yr), but I know it bothers some folks. Also the lack of a goody bag should be noted. Being told that they ran out, or whatever the lady said to me was a poor excuse. I liked the red shirt as a change of pace from the 400 white running race shirts I have.

  • Comments: When I did this race in 2006 there was over 350 in the HIM alone. I think there was 360 combined for both races. I saw there was a huge drop off last year and a slight one for this year. I know the lake was an issue but it was not as bad as 06. I was also disappointed with finisher's dogtag. 2006- Big medal. This was my 2nd HIM and I was very happy with my time. I thought the bike was going to be an issue but it went a lot better than expected. I feel confident that after a summer full of training, I can complete IM Louisville.

  • Comments: OK First off I have done this race each of the four years it has been in existence and have hit my HIM PR here each year. The volunteers and spectators were great and did a good job. The field always seems really strong 51 people under 5 hours. So those are the positives. On the flip side, I was totally unimpressed by Pirahna's effort. The mess with the start was a poorly thought out plan, regestration closed a day earlier than what was posted on-line (to their credit, Neil did re-open on-line regetration when I sent him an e-mail, and me an about 8 other people signed up), there were significant intersections on the 2nd leg without any traffic control (had a close call there the last two years), no timing mats at the turnarounds, no goody bag, a NJD dogtag for a finisher's medal, nothing but Coke to drink after, and not getting the results on line until the next day. This race has backslid significantly. For a race with 47 sponsors listed on the shirt and a $145 entrance fee,

  • Comments: The event was fairly well organized. I wasn't happy with the swim enter and exit. And there were portions of the bike that had some issues with cars. All in all though, it wasn't too bad. Plus, I was very happy to see hoagies for post race food instead of just bagels or something crappy.

  • Comments: Good race for a first HIM, because it's flat and "easy"...Well organized, though the post race activities were a tad dull. Yay, I did my first HIM ever!! P.S. Just as a note--the temps were at around 55F in the morning when I got there, overcast, dreary and COLD. By the first half hour of the bike, sun broke through. And I mean BROKE THROUGH. Super sunny, no clouds, and like 73F the rest of the bike, I think it bumped up much higher by the end of the run. Weather report couldn't have been more wrong. Which only sucked because I didn't have my sunblock in my transition bag (left it in the car when I saw the weather report and the chilly grey skies...d'oh!!) and now I've got a nice sunburn going--my race number is actually tattoed onto my skin. LOL.

  • Comments: as an early season, relatively close to home HIM,this is a fine race.Although most volunteers were kind they were not always helpful meaning you would run up to a turn and not know where to go.The volunteer would not be there or be looking at yoo with no direction. This was the case on many turns and intersections.

  • Comments: Piranha it starting to let me down. They are timing there own races so you have to wait a couple days and then they have the T1 mess up and don't break out age groups, etc. Lin-Mark did a much better job. The swim was better but still needs some work. Don't see why they only had 4 waves in 6 minutes for 2 race and a total of 469 swimmers. More waves and space them out more so it isn't a demolision derby. The bike and run were great but a few intersections on the bike scared the C**p out of my cause there was no traffic control to be seen. Didn' find the race to be worth the $170 I paid. That and change the date so its not heads up against the Broad Street Run.

  • Comments: Much larger race this year. I liked the new course much better that last year. The bike was much better as was the run course(ok I'll concede that the swim was much better last year). Wish they hadn't scheduled it against the Broad Street Run (was 2 week later last year). The level of competion was impressive for a 2nd annual event and the Army Triathlon team was also impressive (though Navy's was equally impressive at Lancaster). However, my new hero is Thomas Koehler of Hampton, NY who completed the race in 5:32:47 and bested me in each leg including the swim. Did I mention he only had one leg? When you meet someone like that you can't help but be amazed and inspired.

  • Comments: The run mile markers thing was just unacceptable. Also, the water was kinda skank, and I'd think they'd avoid putting a swim buoy right near a huge underwater tree stump or whatever it was. Overall HR avg 155, max HR 192.

  • Comments: I thought it was a decent race. Volunteers were awesome - they'd point you out and ask you "Gatorade or water?" as you approached station and then they'd have it for you. Swim was pretty gross. It wasn't a real high-profile race - which probably kept the entrance fee down. But it was just a good solid race. Can't complain.
