  • Comments: The race was very well organized. My only compaint is that for the post race food they had fruit, oreos, and pizza. By the time I got over to have pizza (after putting stuff away and chatting with people), they only had meat pizza left, not so great for a vegetarian like myself. Was starving by the time I left. Greatest moment of the day: while looking at the posted times, some guy asked if I was the top female finisher. I told him know, but thanked hum profusely for thinking I could be. He then told me I looked like her. I guess the training really is paying off...spent a large portion of remainder of the day telling this story and flexing (sad, but true)...

  • Comments: Only thing I was not a fan of is letting people get their bikes post race when people still haven't finished the bike portion. I would say 50% of the people had their bikes out so I thought everyone was done. While I was getting my stuff ready, I saw some older gentleman come through finishing his bike and getting ready for his run. I cheered him on, but felt bad that he had to avoid everyone trying to get out of there while he is still working his tail off.

  • Comments: If you have never done the Culpeper race I suggest it. The whole town comes out to help out and promote it. On the bike course the houses you pass have residents out cheering you on and saying "Hi" the whole way. Same on the run which goes literally through the neighborhood next to the park. The Triathlete community needs to recognize courses and towns like Culpeper who put a lot into running a decent show every time. This was my second time to the late summer run and I ran the spring course this year. I am never disappointed by the local's enthusiasm. Love this course, race and event. Will be a regular every year, twice a year.

  • Comments: I need to keep reminding myself this race was purely to get some OWS in. Still a bit frustrating once I did get the swim in to be so completely tired after it. Funny how things change, 2nd in AG (much smaller event) last week and almost dead last in AG this week. Going to get in as much Open water swimming as I can before Int'l in November.
