  • Comments: I listened to a number of people complaining about the organization of the event, but I think it was fine. T area was a bit cramped but oh well, suck it up and move on. I guess it would have sucked had I been short and trying to lift my bike over the others to get it out... Maybe the RD will hear some of the complaints and try to give a bit more room for it next year. This was the last race of my first triathlon season. Training started in middle of March (ending my 3 and 1/2 year period of zero physical activity while finishing my degree) and ended with Chisago Half. I tapered for my "A" race last weekend wich was Spirit of Racine Half and had a light recovery week to prep for this race. I wanted to test my fitness and take advantage of my peak period and doing 2 Half's 7 days apart seemed to do that. After everything is said and done I was extatic to go sub 5 on both of them and learned a huge amount about how pacing on the bike affects the running legs (especially @ mile 9&>), etc... Now

  • Comments: I can't be happier. I beat my PB from HIM New Orleans by 51 mins. It is way beyond my wildest dreams. 2nd HIM in my life, after 9 months of training and i am sub-5. I still can't believe it. I feel so mentally ready for what i have been training for hte last year - IMWI.

  • Comments: The good: I love the post race food! Pancakes, ice cream, fruit, pb&j sandwhiches, chocolate milk, they had it all! I thought volunteers at the aid stations did a nice job. The not so good: Transition area is way too crowded. Why can they not get more biffys!! why?? You should not have to wait 20 minutes to use the bathroom. The timing chip pickup was lacking organization, they didn't have enough swim caps and I would have loved to have pretzels, coke, bananan's, etc. at the aid stations on the run.

  • Comments: Disappointed with many things about the race. My wife and brother's girlfriend did the sprint and didn't get medals. Kind of petty it seems. That's not a good place to try and save money if you want people coming back. Post race food left a lot to be desired. There were also some questionable issues with organization of waves, lack of swim caps, etc. It was fun but I probably won't be back.

  • Comments: Sub 5 hour by 3 minutes was way beyond my expectations. Very very pleased. This is my HIM PR beating Square Lake last year by 12 minutes. 2nd in AG is icing on the cake. The cramping in the water has me concerned about Burrito Union. Hopefully it won't be bad there as each leg will be shorter and hopefully my fitness will be improved. Nutrition: Power Bar at about mile 10 and 42 of the bike with a gel arounf 25. Drank both my bottles of GE, none of my water. On the run I had a 2 Endurolytes about mile 2.5 and a gel mile 4. Something to drink at all water stops switching between water and Gatorade. I thought this was a good race. A few more water stations on the run would have been good. I loved the bike course. post race food was good altho I didn't have a whole lot. I liked the assigned rack spots. I had a good rack and an end spot. It was also good starting in wave 2. They assigned numbers based on registration date so the early people got the breaks.

  • Comments: I enjoy this race, although more evenly spaced aid stations on the run would be great. It's pretty well organized, and I can't be upset with my overall performance. Unfortunately, the bike course would have been a great test of my training if I were doing IM Florida (really flat), but I'm doing IMMoo (Not so much), so there weren't enough hills for a really good rehearsal, but I knew that going in and had fun anyway!

  • Comments: I liked the race, but said those words that I use to say in College. I will never do this again. I might, but it isn't something I will sign up for right now. Next is the Twin Cities Marathon. Stupid me.

  • Comments: The race director and volunteers did a great job. The road conditions were a little rough...but there's a limit to how much control they have over that. Volunteers were friendly and plentiful. The finish area and food were very nice. They had stacks of Swedish pancakes and loads of watermelon. All that an athletes needs and desires.

  • Comments: For as many people as do the race I think they do a good job. I think they had over 1,600 people including the sprint and half. Was a little dissapointd they didn't have me in the Clydesdale category I had registered under. Would have taken home the 3rd place trophy. Was sad to see a lot of drafting going on in the bike. At one point I had a group basically go by me in a pelaton. Unfortunately I knew several in the group (No BT'ers) and know they were not as fast as they were in the group. Blatent cheating in my opinion. Could see them for quite a ways and they hung together and were 2 and 3 people wide the whole time I saw them. This bothered me more than it should have I guess.

  • Comments: This was the 2nd year of this race and it was pretty unorganzied. I will probably go back next year as it will get better, but it is a far cry from what I am used to in all of the other races that I go to.
