  • Comments: 3x in this race. It is my home town. This year I spent th e$ on a hotel room by the race start. Rolled out of bed, out the door and into the line. Super easy.

  • Comments: This is my first half marathon and biggest event I have ever been involved in. I can't imagine the logistics nightmare involved with running something this huge. With all of that said, they have this down to a fine science. From expo to finish line, everything was well organized and under control. I found out later that some of the front corrals had gotten delayed by an unscheduled train, but they are adjusting times. Aid stations were well staffed and had plenty of water and cytomax, even for us BOPers. Bananas were handed out at one station and Gu at another location. Med stations were well placed and seemed equipped, handing out bandaids, vaseline and anything else people needed. Thankfully I didn't have to stop. Finish line area was really crowded but they were doing there best to keep people moving. Medals were awesome.

  • Comments: The logistics of getting to the start line was a bit of a hassle though I was never worried about getting there on time. Not enough port-o-potties at the race start so I went in the golf course as did a couple other guys. I'll likely do the race again next year since it's the only major half marathon in town.

  • Comments: Very well supported and attended. It's just so big. 32000 some odd people is a lot of people. We'll see if I'll do it again. Not sure yet.

  • Comments: I doubt I will ever do this race again. The shuttles and the point to point race were a pain. I didn't like the spectators (aka Eric) not being able to be at the start. The post race food was a little disappointing. But on a positive note, the volunteers and bands were good.

  • Comments: The best support race I have done. There were so many people on the course cheering and volunteering that it seemed, at times, like the Tour de France. Post race was just as impressive with more than enough drinks, food and entertainment.

  • Comments: I don't consider myself to be a complainer, but this race definitely makes me upset. This was my first Rock n Roll marathon event and I was hoping it would do better in its 2nd year than the evaluations showed in its first. Bottom line is that this was perhaps the worst event I've attended in the 3 years I've been doing sporting events. PROBLEM 1: The shuttles to the start line had a line that took over 1.5 hours. I suppose I chose the wrong location, but this just should not happen. I should have walked to the start instead of waiting for the shuttle PROBLEM 2: Bathrooms. I have seen 800 person triathlons have as many port-a-potties. I know this probably isn't technically true, but the proportion and position of these units combined with the extra-long wait for the busses led to an unacceptable situation. PROBLEM 3: OK, the RD must be Satan. Who would arrange it so that the last .1 mile of a half/full marathon ended with a steep incline. Come On, how hard would it have been to

  • Comments: Great race! Only downside is getting 25.000 runners to the start line on time. The freeway was at a standstill at 6:20 am. The race started 10 minutes late, apparently due to getting racers to the starting line. Since this was the first year of the event I think it is an understandable problem. Hopefully next year they'll do better.

  • Comments: Expo was too crowded--they had more space to open it up some. Pre-race on site, no worries, lots of porta potties. They did pick up the gear bags by last name, yet everything else we had was by #'s, #'s were even by corral. Why not bag pick up? Would've been MUCH better organized as such. Post-race: didn't stay for the big concert, but the area was SO packed, and the UPS gear bags were so utterly disorganized, not to mention the shuttle pick up area had no organized line of getting to it. This was very disappointing and frustrating due to the fact that this RD does this in mutliple locations across the US. Even though it's an inagural for San Antonio, I'd definitely give it several more years to mature before doing it again. Race course was great, no concerns at all...fast and the weather was great, but the immediate post-race organization made me insane.

  • Comments: Overall, very well executed. Great scene but the course was relatively uneventful except passing the alamo at mile 2.2. Would have rather run Austin with the hills.

  • Comments: The expo wasn't planned very well. It could have been better organized so that it wasn't soooo jammed up with people. Too long to wait for the start too. We didn't make it to the after-race concert.
