bayrunner - 2010-04-22 9:09 AM Sorry Trixie I will be working Friday and you probably wouldn't want to ride my (slow) pace ... lol
I did run the 5k route last night, figured it was good practice in the rain. It is a busy route but not a bad run. The 1st 5k does have a big downhill start and both runs will have a little uphill run just prior to the dash to transition or the finish. The 2nd run does have some of the downhill from the 1st but after you run out a bit first. I hope everyone coming has a great race and enjoys Richmond while they are here. If any out of towners need any info PM me and I will help if I can.

I'm looking for recon only. I'll not go fast at all!! I don't want to risk anything before race day. Please join!

Just want to remind every one to bring plastic bags for your shoes and bike on Sunday, and something dry to wear once you get done, I know most of you have thought of this, but, it amazing what we forget....
good luck

Looks like Sunday is going to be rough... 60% chance of thunderstorms now for the entire day.  Just checked the message board.  If anything there will be delays depending on the weather.  No cancellations.  Sports Backers is suggesting large trash bags to cover your bike up overnight .  Lube up those chains, gears and cables...

Good luck everyone!

Doing this race Sunday too as my first duathlon- worried about the weather although some reports now say storms won't roll in until Sunday afternoon (fingers crossed). Trixie, thanks for the report on the course- what about it will be scary if wet? Just trying to make sure I prepare myself if it is and know where to be careful.
Thanks and good luck to everyone racing this weekend!

It will be fine if you take just a little care on corners and such. It's a very technical course, very few flat sections or straightaways, basically just when you're on the bridges. If you're racing at high speeds on wet roads you could run into some issues.  I'll just take her easy if it's wet, but not tooooo easy

Hope to see you kids out there. I'll be wearing my triLAB kit, it's black, red and white, with checkered flag patterns on it. There will be two of us with that kit, very similar looking and both named Lisa...scary! If you see us, say hi!!  Oh, and use trixie, for less confusion

Good luck and have fun!

You too Trixie - sorry I missed you out there today - I hope you had a great race!
Yes we got very lucky with the weather - some slick turns on bike but otherwise it was fine.

Artemis - 2010-04-21 12:42 PM I'm not sure if I am racing right now.  I twisted my ankle pretty bad last Saturday and am still having a lot of pain, so I'm not sure if it is worth trying to race.  Running down the big hills in the first mile will be kind of challenging with a sore ankle.

What did you end up deciding to do?
