Subject: Sudden Running Issues I have been doing so well picking back up my cardio after a long break. I was upping my speed and mileage verrry slowly, seeing decent results, and feeling great. All of a sudden, I started having extreme tightness and discomfort in my lower legs and ankles when I started to run. I could barely get through a mile. I took a couple of weeks off of running, but when I got back to the treadmill this past week my ankles BURNED like crazy after only a mile and all the muscles in my lower legs tensed up. It hurt so badly. At this point, I have zero motivation to keep running and I am SO frustrated. It's not like I'm new to running, and I know this injury isn't a result of overtraining. I'm also pretty certain it isn't shin splints. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
Also, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can keep from losing all of my running fitness without actually being able to run? This just stinks! |
