Comments:

Such a slow swim for me. I think my sighting was way off too because my gps said I swam like 1.4 miles instead of 1.2.
What would you do differently?:

Work on OWS sighting.

Bike
  • 3h 08m 47s

  • 18.43 mile/hr
Comments:

I thought I had a really good ride. Tried to keep the HR in the 140s throughout. It was hard keeping my HR down up the big climbs though.
What would you do differently?:

Do more climbing in practice.
Transition 2
  • 04m 21s
Comments:

Rode in too fast. Almost blew through the dismount area.
Run
  • 2h 08m 41s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

God this run sucked for me. The entire time I was struggling to keep my HR down. I felt so slow. The run was really warm and I think thats what was getting to me was the heat.
What would you do differently?:

Lose weight, get faster, train harder.
Post race
Warm down:

Wanted to curl up in a ball and die.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat and my weight.

Event comments:

This venue is absolutely breathtaking. The course was incredibly beautiful. You get views of Mt. Bachelor almost the entire time on the bike and the Deschutes River on the run. The volunteer staff during check-in seemed kind of miserable but the staff on the course was amazing. So many aid stations on the run course and lost of solutions to keep you cool and hydrated! The activities in the athlete's village was pretty cool too. Getting a voucher for free food (which was delicious) and free beer was a nice treat!

When the air horn went off, I did my best to simulate laps in the pool, but that dang panic came over me again, causing me to breaststroke until I could calm my breathing.
