Is anyone planning on going out to Sasamat Lake? I'm looking to score a ride leaving from downtown, will pay gas money. Upcoming is the VOWSA July 1st race, it would be nice to get in a preparation swim.

I'll be there Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 if you wanna join in.

Hopefully another day as well too - is there a day/time that works well for you?

Will either of you be leaving from downtown? I'm good Tuesday and/or Thursday, the only dependency is getting there.

Well, the 160 bus gets pretty close. http://www.translink.bc.ca/bus/47/routemap/r160.pdf Not sure if that helps.

I'll probably do a lap around the lake - but we'll see what the others want and have planned.

I live out in Port Moody, but there is a bus, #150, that goes from Coquitlam Station right to the beach at Sasamat (White Pine Beach). I think there's one that leaves at 5:30 and gets you there at 6:00. Other option is for me to drive you up there from Port Moody, but I won't have access to my computer until I get home at 5:30/6pm.

That's good to know about the 150 bus, it would've taken awhile to figure that out (the translink website is awful for finding bus routes). Maybe this Saturday I'll try to get out there. The bus takes an hour from Van to Coquitlam, so there's not enough time on a weekday to use the public trans system.

What is the "triangle" people talk about? Are there permanent swim buoys setup or is it an imaginary triangle?

The triangle is from the main beach (concession stand) across the lake to the canoes/kids camp to the middle of the floating bridge on the South end of the lake. 2100 meters give or take.

*Not too sure about the climbing indicated on the route map...I think the way back has a small hill

The triangle is ...

Thanks for the explanation. The climb is probably part of some interpolation algorithm.

How did you guys do at the lake? What's the temperature of the water?

Another idea for you guys is to skytrain it to Lougheed Town Centre and then either bus or bike from there. There's a b-line that goes from there and can take you to Coquitlam Station where you can hop on the 150. (Or you can get off at Newport and I can drive you)

Swim was good yesterday, ended up being a pretty big group (9-10) compared to the 2-4 people the last few weeks. Water was great, the sunshine the last few days has made a huge difference. Can't wait to see what it's going to be like this weekend and next week!
