I've never in my life counted calories until now.  The way I've got it right now is having breakfast and lunch combined being just under 500 calories.  I was planning on eating the same thing every week day.  Then about 1000 calories for dinner, which would be different every night.  Is there anything wrong with doing this?

If you could spread those calories out over 5 meals, you'd be better of than 3 meals.  Try having a mid-morning snack and then one in the afternoon.  This will keep you from overeating at dinner and keep your metabolism high.

500 total calories looks really light for breakfast and lunch combined.  But I eat the same things (roughly, at least) for breakfast through mid-afternoon snack most weekdays.  Seems fine to me.

I hope there's nothing wrong with eating the same thing for breakfast every day, I do. However, there is no way I could survive until dinner time on 500 calories. I would spready your calories throughout the day like the previous poster suggested. Also, are you sure 1500 is enough with training? I'm pretty small and that would be pretty close to my target calories to lose weight. Be sure you're eating enough to fuel your workouts and not put your body into starvation mode.

I've eaten the same thing for breakfast for the past 2 years.  I love it so much I sometimes eat it for dinner too!  I vary my lunches a bit, but they're pretty similar each day as well.  I do change things up on the weekends, as you are planning on doing.  I'd say if you're not getting hungry during the day and you have plenty of energy for training, then go for it.  Be sure to drink water throughout the day as well.

My training is very light right now.  Just getting off of a HIM and rest period.  Also, I'd like to lose 10 pounds over the winter months prior to next season.  Once I lose the 10 pounds and my training increases, my calorie intake will go back up too.  My eating schedule is VERY tentative, but for now I guess I'll see how it works.

 Thanks everyone. Cool

Whatever the nubers you choose, spread them out and load up early in the day rather than later.

The 5 - 6 meals a day works much better to keep your energy going, and you should be eating more in the morning and much less at night. If you have a big dinner it's go nothing to do but be stored in your body as fat. If you eat the bigger meals earlier in the day then you can burn the energy up.

I, like some of others here, have been eating the same breakfast for years. The way I see it, why mess with something that works well.

To second what others have said, I'd recommend spreading your calories out a bit more throughout the day. As for eating the same thing for breakfast and lunch every day, it should be fine (I eat the same breakfast nearly every day), just make sure you're getting variety in your dinners so that you don't develop deficiencies in some nutrients.
