The bike I have right now is 56cm and is a standard road bike with a tri fit.

The bike of my dreams is the Quintana Roo Chiquillo but I have only seen it up to a size Medium.  Do they make girl bikes for long legged women???

Medium might very well be somewhere in the 56cm range.  Just because you ride a 56cm road bike does not mean you will ride a 56cm tri bike.  My roadie is a 47cm and my tri bike is 51cm.  It's the geometry that matters and how well it fits YOUR geometry.  "Long legs" typically just means a higher saddle.  Reach (top tube length) is far more important.

Go have a bike shop fit you up on the Q-Roo.  They will be sure to tell you if it doesn't fit you right.

I'm 5'9" with a 34" inseam and short upper body (in that regard build more like woman...). I was professionally fitted on a small, which I rode for about a year. The small has a very head tube, and I think that this was the reason why he fitter went with this bike (they had to order either one, so it wasn't a stock situation...). In retrospect, I should've returned the small and went with a medium... as this would be a better size (I later borrowed a medium and it did feel much better). The top tube on the small is VERY short.

To put things in perspective... my wife now rides the small and she's only 5'2.5", but also she's really flexible and likes the fact that she can stretch out in the aero position.

Conclusion, medium would probably be good for you. Best would of course to be fitted before buying anything and then buy the bike that fits your body, riding style and goals the best....

triarcher - 2009-08-28 10:19 AM you are close to my size and I ride a 55cm QR - Kilo.  I think with your longer legs you might fit in the Tequilo better.  It's basically the same bike.

But the Tequilo doesn't come in pink.

Maybe I'll try a medium the next time I'm in my local tri shop just to see what it feels like.  I won't be buying a new bike this year but I don't want to set my sights on something that will never work.  Thanks guys.

I'm 5'9.5" with a 34.5 inseam, so we are about the same. I found that while I COULD fit on the WSD bikes, it took some scooching and adjusting. My torso is an okay size, but my shoulders tend to be too broad and my legs a bit long for them. With a good fitter though, you can ride it.

My road bike is a 54, and on tri bikes, I ride anywhere from a 51/Small to a 54/M.

Yeah bike sizes really don't mean much of anything.

One thing to look at is stack and reach numbers, they are a better way to measure bikes, some bikes are longer while others are taller.  Using those measurements should make it easier to find a bike for someone with shorter legs and longer torso's than just using the generic 54 or M measurement.

Cervelo does a good job  on their Geometry page showing all the dimensions of their bikes.

Slowtwitch has some fit articles that really explain it in depth if you want to learn more about it.
