That's great.

I actually had a conversation almost as frustrating with an architect once.

They wanted everything flat but steep, and earthwork to balance on a site that was a hole, building that was above the street but the existing ground was 3 feet below the street without bringing in dirt, no retaining walls, and ADA compliant.

It was IMPOSSIBLE - as impossible as a red line with green ink.  I tried to explain that can almost got the same responses - "why are you so negative and criticizing the design parameters?"  and "surely you can do it, you're the engineer, just do it"...  I honestly felt anxious for him because I have felt the panic of people promising things I knew couldn't happen!

Love this! Makes me glad I'm with a small company right now.

Just needs something about how there are no markers and the budget is $0.05.

Once or twice in my career I was told by some MBA that I have a negative attitude and only reasons why things CAN'T happen instead of a "can do" attitude.  I get that to a point.  No one likes to hear reason after reason you CAN'T do something. 

But sometimes, you simply can't and that's just the truth, not being negative.  Saying 2+2 is NOT 5 is not being a negative person.

Of course it is possible.  I can do anything.  I'm the expert.
