Subject: RE: 6.24.17 Super Dee Duper Saturday! Started yesterday with my usual plank, pushups, and situps.
After those were out of the way I got on the bike and rode to the skate park and back. Usually this is a 13.96 to 14.00 mile ride, but yesterday it was only 13.90. I must have cut a few corners? Anyhow, my goal for as long as I've been doing this route has been to break an hour on it. It is still my goal, but I was so close at 1:00.06. If they ever repave the one spot they tore up to repair or replace a sewer (it's gravel now ) so I don't have to stop and dismount twice, I'll have it.
Last night I also ran a local 5k that was an '80's theme. So I bought a bright yellow muscle shirt and cut some vents across the back and found a hot pink headband to wear to that. I was kinda disappointed by the lack of people wearing similarly ridiculous outfits; there were only a few of us. My run time was also pretty poor, but better than the race I ran last month. It was good enough for a third place in my age group (out of at least 4 ). The top three in each AG got a pair of Top Gun style aviator sunglasses After the race, they had a festival with an 80's rock band, a bunch of food,a beer garden for the adults, inflatable bounce houses for the kids, and fireworks at dusk (the fireworks were very impressive ). The race bib came with a $5 food voucher and an adult beverage coupon. This was probably the funnest after race party I have ever participated in
