Sorry if this has been suggested before and I can see the to do list is massive.

How about using the personal best section to create a BT ranking list similar to the results you get for the different disciplines in a race. Obviously you would need to use standard distances for the pb's and I guess give an opt into the league table option. I always like to see how my swim/bike/run compare position against the field/ my age group and the larger the field you are comparing against the more meaningful these stats become. Would this kind of thing be popular/possible.

Comparing times in a meaningful way from one event to another is difficult or impossible. Sprint distance races aren't standardized. Olympic Distance and above races, while standardized (usually) are frequently not measured accurately. And no course is the same.

Sorry, I don't think I made myself clear enough. My idea is that your time is your pb time in isolation to the other disiplines. So for example you go to the swimming pool and bang out your best ever 750m time, this is your swimming pb (or 1500m etc). Two months later you do your best 5k (10k etc) time this is your pb run time. I take on board that its meaningless to compare times over different courses but as its your individual pb time to my way of thinking it becomes a more meaningful thing to compare. You can start by taking your best splits from different races but then improve on them (hopefully) over time.

Not a bad idea if the times could only come from chipped races, with a link to results page.

Otherwise you would need to add in an internet factor since a lot of people are hero's when training. Without confirmation it could easily become our own little peeing contest.

Or some of us might throw up the 4:34 500 free we did in college.

Thats a valid point Jim. I was thinking along the lines of having a ranking table to act as a spur for training - see if you can climb the ladder a bit. My personal feeling is that if a PB gets to be to old then I reset it to something more currently meaningful. As you can see I haven't thought the whole thing through - its just a suggestion.
