What was good/bad this year?I know it's a ways off, but while it is still fresh in everyone's mind, what were some of the best places to stay for the Ironman in Florida? A little bit of a walk to the main venue, but it was a great value for us. Upside - bunk beds for the kids, all gulf front views, very comfortable. Washer/dryer on sight and in our unit. Downside - no wireless access in our condo (available at main lobby and maybe other units do have it), a little walk (1/2 to 3/4 miles)

The resort has three swimming pools and beach access. Our unit was 3BR/3BA. Six nights for $1200. I suggest using vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner) to find a place. scott |

Personally, I plan renting a house so that I have plenty of room and don't have to worry about other nervous athletes around me |

Member 22 | Subject: RE: IMFL Best Place to Stay? What was good/bad this year? Agree with using VRBO. We booked a 4 bdrm 3 bath at the Majestic directly from the owner.Held 4 adults 5 kids easy. A bit off a walk but nothing to bad. Walked home after the race. |

| Regular 82 | Subject: RE: IMFL Best Place to Stay? What was good/bad this year? One more for VRBO Rented a townhouse less than a mile from the race site which was pet friendly. My lab LOVES the beach and I would have felt horrible leaving him at home. |

Decent hotel, clean, wireless, microwave/fridge in room, balcony facing the beach. $703 for 6 nights. Not bad...but it would have been way more convenient to just stay at the host hotel (the Boardwalk). |

I stayed at Grandview Condos last year which wer VERY nice but not walkingdistance to the venue. Next year we are staying at Panama Shores condos which IS walking distance yet out of the chaos |

My wife and I stayed in a condo at the Boardwalk Beach Resort ... it was clean, new and beautifully appointed. $139 My mom and step-father stayed at the Boardwalk Beach Resort Hotel ... their room was damp, dreary and needed to be updated. $99 Both were on-site, and I appreciated the convenience of being able to roll out of bed into race day. In fact, I woke up ... got body marked ... and then went back to our room to apply sunscreen and put on my wetsuit. |
