I received  an entry form in my email about this Sprint race. Anyone else get this?

Yep, I got the same email. Looks like I'm doing this one. Did anyone do it last year?

Kailua, Hi

I did it last year.  It was a really good race.  3 laps around Haleiwa bike was very fast and really fun.  The run has about 2 miles of deep sand though.  It was a pretty tough run.  If you have the chance to run it, I would.

Does it begin with the sand run or end with it?

It starts like a trail run... compacted sand, easy to run on. And I hate anything off the sidewalk, but this was nice. =)

The turn around takes you to the beach... deep soft sand alternating with the shelf-like black rock (?). A difficult run, but was fun... well, different.

I really enjoyed the triathlon last year... it was my first ever.

They did bill the run as 3 miles though... and it was only really 2.

The bike was a perfect 12 miles via google maps.

Oh yeah, I saw quite alot (little over half-dozen) flats on the back-end of the course. Maybe because it was three loops.. easy to see people flat? But there were a few uneven spots that got close to blowing my tires... and maybe some debris too. Just a warning.

Practice your bunny-hop. =)

I think it was one of the fastest bike courses I have ever raced.  I just remember it being wet but fast.  Now that you mentioned it the run was kinda short...well just right with the sandy beach run.  the swim to bike transition was extremley long though.  from the exit of the swim to the transition area took a couple of minutes to run.

This would explain the fast times that I saw in the results for last year.

lol.

yeah, people doing 4:30 miles on dirt, rock, and soft beach sand.

at first I thought: "Wow, they really hammer these runs."

Then I saw my time, faster than I could run 3 miles on a track in prime condition. Yep.
