I can't open outlook. I get the attached error. I've located the file, tried finding the inbox repair tool. Removed and reinstalled outlook on it's one. Removed and reinstalled all Office 2007. Still no luck. What do I do?

ETA: Help is useless.

All your mail is stored in a little database - the .pst file it's talking about. It says the file is corrupt or has errors.

So with Outlook closed, you run the scanpst program to hopefully fix it. It should just run if you do the start->run box, if not just search for it and then double click it.

When it asks which PST to scan, you use the big long link below to find it. Ie, folder Users, then Martin, then AppData, and so on.

It happens all the time on the Macs at work here so it's not just a PC thing.

Do you have a backup of your e-mail (on a backup .PST file)?
Are you connecting to an Exchange server?
Is your profile (Martin) still on the PC (it wasn't renamed or deleted by mistake)?

See if this helps:

My work has yet to figure out how to connect me to our exchage server so I have to access me email/contacts/calander through Microsoft Outlook web access or my phone. I use outlook on my computer as a backup of my contacts for my phone and when I am home I enter calander items and new contacts through it. It syncs with my phone when I plug it in. It is also handy when I download.

Trying to use the directions from here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA010563001033.aspx

I get this error: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Creat an association in the Set Associations Control panel.

I'm lost. I have everything I need backed up on my phone (contacts/calander) should I just switch to the backup file?

Uninstalling Outlook doesn't remove all the components, and since it's tied in with Outlook Express, there will be some remnants.
Backup the profile, if you can, create a new profile and see if you can have the mobile device synch with the new profile (make sure the synching process has the mobile device override Outlook so the data doesn't wipe off the phone).

Not sure I can use a backup.

The isntructions from MS:

1. Start Outlook.
2. On the File menu, click Data File Management.
3. Select the .pst that is damaged, and then click Remove.
4. Click Add, select Personal Folders File (.pst), click OK, and then select the .pst file you want to use as the new primary file.
5. Click OK.

I can't open outlook at all. Any more ideas?

Virus scan with AntiMalware and AVG?

Have you tried doing the following:
Go to Start, then Run, then type the following: "Outlook.exe /resetnavpane" (without the quotes)

Yay! Found the repair tool in a different location. Got the file scanned, repaired and it opened. Going to make a backup now.

Thanks for the help.
