This is another good race. Who's heading to it this year?

I'm racing the Olympic on sunday. I always enjoy the HSBC Lakeside events. The kids always have fun on the beach and playground.

(gulp) I'm doing it as my first sprint after my first try-a-try later this month. Bracing myself for some hills. Probably not big hills by most people's standards, but coming from pancake-flat SW Ontario, it will be a challenge!

Hills at Lakeside aren't bad at all. In fact I remember it being pretty flat. Just push your backside back on the saddle as you go up - it will make it easier.

I'll be there.

I'm from SW Ontario (acutually, Lakeside is a few miles up the road) - not very pancake-like here, but I live in a bowl and anything going out from the centre is pretty much uphill .  However, there are a few rollers at Lakeside, but no "large" hills.  The route is different this year I think, but it's not too bad.

Good luck to all!

need some advice.....doing my first sprint there! Looking forward to it but....is the water warm....any need of a wetsuit. I don't have one...just starting tri's and can rent one if needed but won't have the chance to train or try it before race day.
Any ideas or comments. Just wondering with the cool weather we have been having as of late.
Thanks

Typically its still warm enough to swim wetsuitless in mid-Sept.
But Lakeside is a small and shallow lake and with this cool weather we've had, it may cool off a bit.
I'd wait for the pre-race report from John Salt (Race Director) and see what he says on the water temp. Or email the race orginizers and ask.

I was at Lakeside this past weekend to get familiar with the course and the water was COLD (approx. 65 deg.).  You should definitely use a wetsuit.  Even with a wetsuit, you should get into the water at least 10 to 15 minutes before the start of the event so your body can adapt to the cold water.
