Is this for 6 750ml bottles (typical package size of many Trappist beers). If so, the pricing is in line with other Trappist beers. As far as "is it worth it?". I love Trappist beer, but if you have never had it, you may wish to try a single bottle before spending 60+ on 6. The taste of Trappest, or really any Belgian beer style, isn't for everyone.

I don't know the volume, but I figure it is the standard size. I'll check it out.

A couple of the reviews on beer advocate mentioned $10 per 12oz bottle (or was it 11oz?).

I love Belgian style ales and especially the Trappists, though I'm more of a go big or go home approach in that I typically prefer the quads over the less intense offerings.

Goose Island Burbon County Brand Stout is probably the most intense one I've ever had, definitly something only for every once in a while. If you can get Boulevard Brewery's Smokestack Series Sixth Glass in your area, that is my go to Belgian style.

Is this a Bourbon Stout?  Like Oak Casks style stout beer?????  I have only had one before and it is a special brew that doesn't happen very often and would love to find something else.  Best beer ever for my tastes is Bourbon Stout from Olde Main Brewery in Ames, IA.

Yup - Link

Should be available year round from any place with a decent beer selection. I read that the 2012 batch has a whopping 15% ABV. That would be way too much to mask in most cases, but they pulled it off well in previous years with a slightly lower ABV. I haven't had a 2012 yet, but might this weekend now that I'm thinking about it.

Westy 8 is one of the best beers you will ever have... hands down.  I'm going to Belgium in Nov. and can't wait to get one "fresh from the factory."  You will NOT be disappointed.

Spent the first semester of my junior year living in Brussels.  Prior to that, I was a regular Piels chugging college kid.  After traveling all day, I distinctively remember my first Belgian the day I arrived - Westmalle Tripel.  Needless to say, life was never the same.   I spent 6 months traveling (and drinking) extensively throughout Belgium and the low countries.  Lots of good stuff out there.
