who's got 'em
who wants 'em and what
who's too scared

i'll start.

if you have pics i guess you can post them if you want. i would but need to borrow a camera.

tattoos -
done:left arm almost sleeved, right shoulder and right shoulder blade
want: to finish out my left arm with a horseshoe around my elbow with "sink or swim" plus some filler. a chest piece. not sure of what yet but i was thinking a huge eagle, but i already have one on my arm. possibly finishing my right arm with a half sleeve if i ever qualify for and finish an IM or just doing something Japanese style with a dragon/samurai. maybe something on my calf like an R2D2.

piercings -
had my lip pierced but one day i was sitting on my couch and the ring came loose. turns out the ball fell out and i unknowingly swallowed it. that was the end of that. my ears are done too but i haven't had anything in them for a long time, but i stretched them out a little (4 gague plugs) so i will always have hole. i been thinking about some thin tight fitting hoops but it's not that important.

the only thing that keeps me from getting work don is money of course and the need to get in the water. soon though, soon. my mom and sister are tattooed as well and my dad wants me to design something for him.

GO!

I have 4 tats. Rose & dagger on upper right arm, coral snake and vines on my right forearm. Left shoulder/upper arm has a mermaid, and my Ironman tattoo is below that on my bicep. The M-dot symbol with a knot armband around it.

No tattoo, but I often think of what I should get. My wife has a small one on her foot. Thing is, I'm not into evil clowns or skulls with a sword going through the head and a snake coming out of the eye socket.

I've considered working towards an IM just to get the M dot, but I don't actually find the M dot very nice to look at. Nevermind that I don't see a time in my future where I will be able to devote the time necessary. It's all so complicated.

Is it rude to stare at someone with tattoos..?  I don't really mean stare.  But sometime people have a tattoo in a place like their face and I'm curious to see what it is.  But you have to stare to get a good look to figure it out....Is that rude?

Or is it bad mannersto ask someone what the meaning or what a tattoo picture is?

I find most people are happy to talk about their tattoos and give the details, etc. I've struck up a few interesting conversations with people looking at mine, or me asking other people. Usually I try and break the ice with something like, "Hey, nice...where'd you get your ink?"

I have:
  • My dog, Stimpy's paw print on my left calf. Got it when she was getting older so I'd always have something to remind me of her. She died last year, and I'm so glad I got it.
  • Celtic sun on right deltoid.
  • Little maori warrior on the inside of my left wrist.

Tatt on my sacrum, extends out about 2 inches on either side. It's an orchid in the center with green leefy looking tendrils. The sacrum, with 16 pressure points, is probably the most painful place to put a tatt... but it looks great.

Only ear piercings.

i dont mind if people ask, especially girls. but when the question is "oh my god didnt it hurt?" rather than why i have what i have or where i got them done it gets annoying. however, if someone comes up to you and starts touching your tattoos, that is just weird. had that happen to me ... by a dude ... and he was real close to catching one but the shock of some guy just outright touching my arm got the best of me and i just stood there with a confused look on my face.

staring isnt that big of a deal, but if you are going to stare why not just ask, i am sure they will be happy to give you a closer look. at the same time if i am trying to talk to someone and they can't look me in the eye and all they do is stare at my tattoos then that gets annoying as well.

I did my first tri this past weekend, and out of the thousand people there, I was shocked how many had some sort of art. Any thoughts on why so many triathletes do?

I had an eyebrow piercin back in my "youth", but I took it out for mother's day. Now I've just got a belly button ring and ear piercings... I'd get a tat, but I can't think of any part of my body that won't eventually sag, so I'm wary....

That's a great idea. I have 2 big cats (18 - 19 lb tabbies). That would be something to seriously consider. Non cat people probably won't get it, but cat people will.

Ok, here's my wierd idea: I'd like to get a kind of curvy line thing winding all down my body, but different on both sides, sortof highlighting errogenous zones or cool little landmarks like moles and scars. It would be very flow-y and delicate.

I've never seen anything like this? Is it just stupid? Or does it sound cool?

You know, I've seriously thought about my foot... I would love to the bottem of my arch (it doesn't touch the ground, so it wouldn't rub off as much)... I was a ballet dancer for like, 2 decades, so with that and the running, the foot would be the my symbolic place for me...but people [read: tat artists] keep shooting down the idea of doing the bottem of the foot. I mean, i get it, but still </whine>

You know what? You should get what you want. It won't rub off. It'll probably tickle like crazy getting it done, but when it's done, it'll be *yours*, not *theirs*. And, it's a unique place, which is always cool.

i had two ear piercings in my left ear, one in my right, one in the upper left cartilage, one in my tongue, and one in my nipple.

all of them were at different times. no more piercings now :-)

would love to get a tattoo, not sure of what though. some say they are unoriginal, but i love the idea of a M dot tatoo after an IM completion.

I think this is a very cool idea.  Question though- Is it a generic paw print, or actually hers?  If so, how did you get it?
