Both Ronin and VancityJ did, sorry to steal you thunder guys but here are the results! Amazing results based on the wind, cold water and the fact that you raced on MOTHER'S DAY! Congrats Van for pulling out a top 10! and Ronin snags a mid spot in a tough AgeGroup. Way to go guys!

DrLeah - 2008-05-12 12:09 PM When Dan & I were on our miserable ride yesterday we were both saying how glad we were we weren't racing! Nicely done you two!! Double hard-core points.

Yeah, even though I don't live in the area I was thinking the same thing. Made it to a high of 9 yesterday.

I did the race, pulled out a 2:11. At the start, they gave the athletes the option of skipping the swim portion. They also halved the swim course distances, the sprint distance was a 250 meters swim and Olympic was 500 meters. If I heard correctly, the water was 10 degrees Celsius, half a degree colder than last year. The air temperature wasn't much warmer, at 13 degrees Celsius.

The first half of the swim was fine, but coming back was brutal. The water was undulating, and taking a breath was difficult without choking down a mouthful of water.

The bike course was really well marked and patrolled. Luckily it was mostly dry, but the wind was pretty strong in some parts. I had a full water bottle at the start of the bike, and a full water bottle at the end. I didn't break a sweat until the 6 km mark in the run.

I had to return home, so I wasn't able to see the award ceremony or eat any post race food. The t-shirt they gave out is really nice. It's brown (OMG not white??) with the Cultus Lake Tri logo on the front.

I also raced it. I did a 2:16 for my first oly distance, even though swim was short i am still happy with my time. I though about skipping the swim, but i dident. I was like hyper ventalating through the entire swim leg though...... Plus....... I WON THE WET SUIT!!!!!! BOO YA!!!

That is awesome! 2:16 for your first OLY is amazing, and then to eclipse that with taking home a free suit!?!?! Great! Can't imagine having to race in that water 10 Celsius!!!! Great job.
