I would not even consider it, i imagine it would be 50 times more PITA than the NYC Olympic was.

And if they really plan on swimming the Hudson for 2.4 miles, they had better get the tide perfect otherwise they will be fishing people out faster than they can imagine. Once that tide turns that river is dangerous.

This would jump near the top of my bucket list.

What I wonder though is will this ever happen. In the past we have seen these same articles with IM's in Oregon, Virginia and California off the top of my head. They put these news bits out there and some come true ie IM Woodlands but others just fade away.

plenty of bodies to grab onto to float with.  2.4 miles is a long way to go in the Hudson. No way they could do a mass start - you know WTC would want to cram at least 2000 into the race - and with waves or TT start you are talking hours for the swim course to clear.  Doing an IM in NYC is idiotic.

Of course rudy is a wuss, no doubt about that.

There are a lot of open water swims in the Hudson, some of which are longer than 2.4 miles and are very doable and safe.  The big problem would be that they can't do the mass start and would have to do a Louisville like start.  I can't imagine the NYC line would be as patient or polite as the Louisville line though.

I can figure out why WTC would want to do this but why in the world would NYC?  It can't be worth the hassle and cost to the city for the relatively small amount of people coming in to participate and spectate.
