Sounds like a good idea.  I started commuting in March when we started breaking 20 degrees a few times in the mornings.  I actually decided to track my miles this year just to see how many I can rack up.  This sounds like a fun way to log them.

Still working on my goals and scheduling. I've been doing twice a week commutes, the other three days I take our son to school before work.  Bike distance each way is ~8 miles and I typically get in extra miles on the way home. However, our office is moving on July 1st and it'll become a 28 mile each way trip. Great for racking up some IM training miles as I'll get 56 minimum in each day.  Just gotta get it past the spouse that it's going to be some early morning leaving and later home (no fun at all riding in Vegas summer in the late afternoons).

I'm basing mine on biking to work and home. For commuting days in a M-F work week it looks like the following breakdown not counting the holiday's: May: 21, June: 22, July: 23, August: 21, September: 22 for a total of 109 days over 21 1/2 weeks.
At a minimum I'll go for 40, although 50 sounds like a good round number.

I will think about it, it's interesting but the client where I am actually working is at 35km or so from my place and they don't have any shower.

If I can find a place close to them where I can shower then I will get into the challenge.

As far as goals go, I am aiming for more than 2 times per week. That could end up being 2.00001 times per week, but that is the goal, May-Aug. Not sure if I am taking any weeks off this summer, probably just a bunch of long weekends.

we have 22C today, and the sun is up by about 6:30 so I am hoping to start next week as long as the temp is above 0 in the morning.

22C damn you're lucky. I'd still get crappy points for running as of now :p

I'll eventually chime in with my goals for this year. I've started about once a week since the time changed, but I've got new challenges which I'm not quite sure how will intefere. I'm hoping to pull some solid 3x per week months from Jun-Aug, but I'll need to pick up the kids (close to work) several times a week after work.

My commute is 35mi round trip and I'll split those about equally between my tri-bike and fixie  with a seatpost rack & bag for lunch & clothes. There is a city rec center about 1.5 mi from my office where I shower and I stash my bike in the company (~40 employees) storage closet.

I'm in! I'm going to put down a goal of 6 times per month. With travel coming up this summer, that will allow me to do 2x per week normally and 1x per week on travel weeks.

I'm in!  Aiming for at least 2x a week this summer.  This next month will give me a nice boost as I'm missing the family unit and have an open schedule (except tapering for a marathon on May 3).

My car's been out of commission for a few weeks now so I've been commuting out of necessity. It's 7.5 miles each way, and once I get my car back I think I'll shoot for at least 3x/week.

It's just about 100 degrees today here in Phoenix. Some of y'all are wrestling with the cold and I'm actually jealous.

I'm going to try something new with my commute. If I ride the whole way, it's 25 miles one-way on gnarly streets. But it's only 5.8 miles to the bus stop. So I may start riding to the bus and bussing in, and the same on the way home. Fewer miles, but logistically a bit more easy as I won't have to shower. Just change clothes and go. I'll try the townie commute and see how that works.

So I did my bike to bus commute today, with just a backpack. No panniers or anything on the bike. It worked out pretty well. It only took about 20 min to get there, so no need to shower when I got to work (I showered the night before). I packed all my clothes in the backpack. I think girls may have the advantage here. Well, low-maintenance ones. All I had in the bag for clothes were some sandals, undergarments, and a cute dress that doesn't wrinkle when rolled. I went straight to my building and changed in the bathroom. I used 1 babywipe to freshen up, applied deoderant, fixed the hair (curly hair works great for this) and was on my way!

We'll see how it goes when it gets warmer out.

Commute for me today also. Direct into work, 8.6 miles. Will take a longer route home to get some miles in. Near record temperatures in Vegas today, supposed to hit 98 degrees!

Rode in today as well!  Nice sunrise while coming up the mountain and set a new PB for the commute.  I even managed to fit a pair of running shoes in the backpack and not forgot any street clothes so I can join the lunchtime group run.

Day 1 for me too. Took a couple wrong turns due to pathway maintenance that has been going on for over a year. Good ride. About 26km, usually is 25km so that will come down. Was about 15 minutes off the pace from last year, will be nice to see that go down.

Sweet! I love this challenge!  Today was my first day commuting in on my bike as well   I did about twice a week last summer so I'll aim for 2.5/week which will put me at... 50 (thanks for the math toddg Wink)

My commute is 14 miles each way - 28 round trip.  I bring my bike in the office with me and leave it in my cube.  That's the only way I know it's safe!  Plus I just bought my new bike yesterday, so I like being able to look at it all day long and dream about riding on it   The company is supposed to buy bike lockers to install at the new building sometime after our office moves in July.  That will add about 2 miles to my commute too.

I totally agree with PirateGirl that bike commuting is fantastic for us low-maintenance girls.  Bike-to-work days are always skirt days so I have very little/light clothing to carry in the backpack (and I leave my skirt shoes at work

Ooooo...those are nice! Our city offers them in a few parking lots, but you have to rent them for $30 a month.

Another georgeous sunrise on the mountain and a new PB for my commute.  Had fun "racing" another cyclist home last night, I guess he was offended when I passed him on the descent...
