Im hearing rumors Ironman is moving out of Disney after this year.
South on the east coast, maybe Sebastian.
Not suprised with all the B.S. and red tape they get from Disney.

Sweet! As long as the run course is on pavement, I'm in!

Plus, my wife said getting around Fort Wilderness was a bigger pain than she thought it'd be. So maybe the venue will be more spectator friendly.

I think a change in venue would be great for this race. I would definitely look to add this one back to my race schedule for next year if that is the case.

Why have it at Disney is the race is not going to have any Disney feel.

Because it was at Disney I was expecting to see some Disney characters or something.

That run was bad, that was the worst thing I have ever seen.

If they move I will do it again, if they don't that might be the last one for me.

Giddy up - I was totally in for this race for '09, but dreading the run.  That would make it perfect.  Of course, I was hoping for a lake swim and this might become ocean.

Keep us posted if you hear more scoop!

This was my second Florida 70.3 (yeah..I was crazy enough to come back and attempt that stupid run course TWICE). I am also a cast member and I think it is ridiculous that Disney has THOUSANDS of acres and has you run three loops in the ugliest and nastiest part of the property!! If they move it, Im in. If it remains at Disney with the same course...never again!!!

Congrats to everyone that completed this race You guys are tough!! Im just thrilled to be in your company!!

I took the opportunity to visit Cocoa Beach while I was there on Saturday. It was 10 degrees cooler on the East Coast and the ocean was too cold for me to get in without a wet suit! As much as I like Disney, to keep it there, I think they should move it up to March or April, before St. Croix.

Curious as to where the other folks on the thread heard the rumor? Any credible sources, or is it just hearsay at this point?

Huh?  Heard from a reliable source last year that one was being worked on / planned in that area.  My thought at the time was, why would they have 2 70.3 in FL besides the WC race.   We'll just have to wait and see...

As bad as the run was, I did enjoy the race. Being from NJ, and a huge fan of WDW, the location is a great destination race. My wife and I stayed at WDW til friday after the race. No other 70.3 offered a race/vacation for us. Im sure racers with children, like the fact that there is plenty for the kids to do here. I agree that the run sucked, maybe would be better to loop the run corse thru FT wilderness, to magic kingdom and back. STAY OFF THE CANAL RD'S!!! I hope they keep the race in the aera, maybe Universal/sea world could host the race???

I saw somebody mention that it doesnt make sense to have 2 70.3's in florida....remember the WC race in Nov is invite only. As somebody who will never run fast enough to earn a slot, the WDW race is my only opition.

My big issue with the race was that being from the north, I wasnt prepared for the heat on the run. I plan to move to FL in the next few years. Once we move, thats when I will probably do it again.

Looking at 09, planning to do the Ironman RI 70.3(close enough to NJ for a weekend trip), some local OLY's and Ironman florida in nov.
