Subject: RE: Self supported racesWell I ran my fastest 13.1 miles this weekend during my 20 mile run but I would not count it as my PR. One I like to cite my races when I give a PR and 2 giving yourself a reason to push during a race is one of the funniest parts of the race. This lastest weekend I pred during a 5k. I even made my time goal. It was hard and I had to push myself but having that goal is the reason I did not give up. Plus you do not always know if your distance is all that accurate either.
I would still encourage you to treat it as a race and go out and run your hardest. I just would not count it as a half marathon or as a pr if you do beat your pervious best time.
Remember when it comes to a PR its ulimately you are the only one who cares and it matters too unless your trying to use it for another's race qualification.
I woudl not count it in race totals since otherwise I ran 100s of 5ks in races but really only done 5 of them.
If they do have a 5k or half marathon split I will use that as my PR though. For me its about knowing the distance is accurate. Edited by chirunner134 2008-09-24 6:19 PM
