Watch it.  HILARIOUS...

It is an animated version of his podcasts.  I need to look them up and get them on my Ipod.

I don't have HBO (or a TV at all for that matter), so I probably won't be watching, but I've listened to every podcast I think. Once you hear them all, and you watch some of his Hollywood movies, or his standup, then you realize that a lot of ideas are recycled. No matter, they still are hilarious.

I highly recommend the standup shows. You can find them on Youtube.

To increase my post count...

The first time I ever watched The Office, it was the American version and I thought it was hilarious. I saw one episode.

Then I watched the British Office. Both seasons. Awesome!

Then I tried to watch another episode of the American office and I didn't enjoy it at all. In my head they were mimicking the British characters and were not as funny as the original.

It took my wife and I many years to finally accept the American Office after having seen both seasons of the BBC version.

Also if you ever wanted to hear the old podcasts (free) from Ricky Gervais' XFM radio show they are all at pilkipedia.

http://www.pilkipedia.co.uk/

Lots of funny material there, but I wouldn't recommend it while working out, as it's too hard to run/bike when you are doubled over laughing.

Ugh.  Ever since I saw 'The Invention of Lying', I have no interest in anything else involving Ricky Gervais.  That was probably the worst movie I've seen in years.

yeah, but I don't think comedians really do well in movies many times.  So I wouldn't hold it against them.  I would say Larry the Cable guy is much better in stand up than the crap he put out called movies.

Check out a series he did on HBO called Extras. He ran it for two seasons and pulled the plug. Last time I checked it was still available on demand for free on TWC. Dry British humor at it's best.

I first saw the British version while on a work assignment in the UK back in 2001-ish (one of our project managers actually rushed his dinner to get back to his room to watch it, and told me I had to watch it - I did, and was blown away by how funny it was).

I then got both BBC seasons on DVD and when the US version was announced, I assumed they'd screw it up and it would crash and burn after one season. I'm happy to say I was wrong, and love the American version.

The other night I watched one of the BBC DVD's for the first time in ages and was crying with laughter, although I had to turn it off as the humour is a little closer to the bone than the US version and my kids were around.

Extras is good. I think I love it even more than the Office. I hate that he pulls the plug after 2 seasons and a Christmas special.

Ricky Gervais is a pompous tool as far as everything I have seen him do.

He loves himself way more than the average hollywood star.

I used to download those to my ipod and listen to them on the way to work. Seeing as I take public transportation, I sometimes had to stiffle laughter so people didn't think I was crazy. Hilarious stuff. Sometimes even after a second listen. Think I'll have to check out those old shows again.

I can see why you would think that by the persona he shows  but actually you couldnt be more wrong. He is very humble and respectful from where he came and to those who helped him along the way...there is a 60 mins segment on him - worth watching if you can find it.

Homeless. Chinese man. Never seen one of those.

These shows are hysterical. In the 1st one, I lost it at Pilkington's story about picking up the piece of paper and what it said.
