Expert  1205   Herndon VA |  Subject: What wine with ChipotleIn the Washington Post, the wine reviewer selected a 2002 Wyndham Estate Shiraz to go with Chipotle Barbacoa Burrito. I'm not big on wine so I can't say if this is a good choice. Now for a beer, I would select an amber ale, such as Fat Tire to go with the Burrito. With Mexican food.... let me think.... Shiraz would probably work. It's still sweet, but "meaty" and can hold its own. I don't like beer, but I'd think one would prefer beer with Mexican food. I generally reach for the bottled-in-Mexico Coke. Or a yummy horchata. Or, my all-time favorite: Pena Fresca (pineapple drink). |

Gewertztraminer, although very sweet--too sweet in my estimation--would not go well with Chilpotl; it is more a dessert wine. |
