Hi everyone.  Welcome to December! Wow, how'd that happen?

Goal for this month is 6 hours in the water.  Have to go for time rather than distance since I'm on vacation and the pool here isn't exactly regulation size and I'll be doing some open water stuff that I can't measure.   I'm not a strong swimmer, but have been drilling and feel like I'm oh-so-close to making that breakthrough.  I mostly have trouble positioning myself correctly in the water and have quite a bit of drag with my lower body.  This may just be the month that it all clicks for me and comes together.

Good luck on reaching your goals everyone!

Thanks for the add. My focus the last few months has been running but I did jump in the pool this week and it felt good! So the challenge is a great reason to jump in again. Looking forward to participating in the challenge as a Terrifying Turkey!

Wow what a quiet team! I had to reply just to bump us upWink. Hope everybody is in the pool swimming.

This is my first challenge, and I am in for 12,000yds I can't wait to get started.....on Monday. I need lots of motivation to get up and get in the cold pool....I live in the Northeast.

Do we just record our distance in our logs, or do we need to report it somewhere else also?

YOur team leader Donto will probably let you know what he wants when he gets a chance to login.. its usually either reporting in the team thread, PMs or collected off your logs depending on the team leader...

Hi team! My name is Dave and I live out in Japan (Land of the Rising Sun). I'm really looking forward to this challenge as I could use the water work. It'll be interesting to see how it all pans out.

Went for a goal of 30,000 meters. Since I'm spending the entire month of December (leave on Tuesday) in Singapore for work, all my swimming will have to be done at the hotel pool. I'm counting on it remaining open and accessible.

I look forward to interacting with you all and trying to figure out exactly what's so terrifying about a turkey...

Hm. What's the length of the hotel pool? Most of the ones I've seen are really short!

Push, glide, turn. Push, glide, turn..... I'd get dizzy after a few minutes!

(PS, I'm not a Turkey. Not even a Terrifying one.... This is just a drive-thru posting. LOL)

Yo Turkeys!  Glad to be part of this team...to quote from a book I'm reading, "No excuses, no explanations."  In other words, let's get the job done and not let Donto/the team down...I'm in for just under 15000 yards...month has started off slow (I'm Mr. Mom for the next few days), but when the kiddos are in school (and I'm on vacation from work) next week, I plan on getting in at least two long swim sessions.  Hoping to knock off a big chunk of the goal.  Re: the image below, no clue who the dude is - N. Korean crazy leader perhaps?  But I like the image - it's pretty terrifying...eh, maybe not, but what the hell...

I think it's 20 yards. I've seen a picture on the hotel's website and it looks nice but compared to my normal 50m Olympic pool it's gonna take some getting used to.

It's Kim Jong-Il and I'd go with a bit eccentric and possibly certifiably crazy but not "terrifying".

Hey, Lou -

If it makes you feel any better, I like the Kim Jong-Il turkey.

Of course, I'm not on your team...but just thought I'd give you some props.

Howdy, Name is Tom. Kinda getting a slow start. I really need the pool time so I'll be working hard to get all 20,000. I had Army stuff this weekend that kept me out of the pool, but I'll be splashing tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

Donto here, (lead Elf).  I need to talk with Cat about our team name!

I'm catching up from the weekend so please bear with me on any delay regarding the team.

I pledged a goal of 15k yards, but I decided to forget all knowledge and wisdom I've obtained over the 42 years of my life and played flag football on Sunday.  Pulled my hamstring pretty good (grade 2 tear) and based on what I've read on rehab, I shouldn't attempt to swim for at least a week, found another source that said no swimming for up to 3 weeks.  I guess it'll all come down to how well I heal. So far now I'm going to change my swim goal to 10,000 for now and take the next 7-10 days off to heal.

I hope everyone is off to a good start, I was as I got in 1,000 on Sat...

Ouch that hurts!  Yea you might use your hamstring a little when you swim, hope it heals quickly.  I am nursing a IT band injury and it takes so dayum long!

Everyone swimming?, I logged 2400 yards today.

Don...next time we "chat" remind me to remind you that you're OLD...(just kidding)...sucks about the hammy...I've pulled mine (both sides) so many times (fortunately only one of them required reheb) over the years and can relate to what you're dealing with.  Yes, swimming might not be the best thing for you now, though you *could* probably get away with using a PB and focusing everything on the upper body.  Being in the water might actually help things along too.  Regardless, quick recovery karma being sent your way.

Despite being Mr. Mom right now (Beth's out, since Sat., until Wed.), I managed 2400 yards today after getting the kids off to school.  Hoping to get another good one in on Wed.
