Subject: 12-27 cassette: I'm a believerLike many of use here, I only have one bike, a tri bike. It came with the standard 12-23 rear casette. When I got new wheels, I decided what the heck, get a new cassette also. So, I got a 12-27, thinking I had both ends covered between the 2 cassettes depending on how many flats vs. hills I might do. Most of my races have significant hills, and I have no cycling background, so I didn't know what I was missng..
Put on the new cassette (and the LBS put on a new chain ), and WOW what a difference. No more standing to get up hills, no more burning those watches. Felt great during the ride, fresh.
I had no idea what I was missing until the first big hill that I spun up at 88. What a difference, I would be standing and panting on the 23.
For anybody on the fence, or like me who knows nothing about bikes, it makes a huge difference. |
