I am going on a multi-day mountain hike in October so I decided to sign up for a triathlon to force myself into shape. Now that I paid my money for the tri my obsessive personality has taken over and I’m becoming a freak about this training stuff. This could be bad.

Anyway, very cool seeing a place for Wisconsinites…

Lake Geneva Extreme HIM. I figured that would be a good one to see if I have what it takes to do this triathlon thing!

Just kidding! I signed up for the Lake Geneva Sprint Sept 12 and it is doing a fine job at making me nervous. I can easily do the bike and run if I keep a relaxed pace but am working hard at getting my swim where it needs to be. I have been swimming 3 days a week for at least a month but it seems like it keeps getting harder. I still have 5 weeks left and am demanding that I be prepared.

I am swimming twice the sprint distance in the pool but take a lot of little breaks. Like tonight, I just swam 1100 yds but it took ~36 min. I have not tried strokes other than freestyle. This week I am going to be doing 2 OWS (with a boat beside me) and then I will throw in a breaststroke, backstroke, doggie-paddle (LOL) and whatever else it takes for me to catch my breath as I swim. I am also a decent floater so I can throw that in as well.

I was about to question all the donkeyisms around here but I feel as if I'll fall into a newb trap. Since I don't have a clue what they mean I'll refrain from posting any donkeyesque remarks...

If only they would allow a sticky for this since it does get asked every once in awhile...

jszat (our Sensei ), has set forth this statement:

The head donkey is the beloved Donkey who bleated his early morning blessing two seasons ago.  The Donkey Nation strives to catch the carrot through growth and nourishment of the inner donkey through stubborn and steady training practices.  All one needs to do is make their donklaration to the pace.

Welcome d-nort. Don't be a'scared of the donkai. We don't bite. Well, unless you're a carrot. And, then we more just nibble.

Yet another explanation, this one stolen from the facebook page.........

Welcome to Tri Donkai/Team Turbo Donkey Triathlon team, a group of tri-folk who adhere to the principles of the all knowing Donkey in training and racing. The Donkai welcome all levels of talent (or lack thereof) and champion a sense of community and support for others in the pace. Whether its tris, cycling, running or other endurance events, The Donkai keep it stubborn and steady. EEEEEAAAWWWWWW!!!!
