Subject: RE: First Tri -- First DNFSounds like something I would do. I missed a turn on the run course at my race in April, and ran a half mile before I figured it out. Sadly, there was a woman behind me who was following me. When I ran back to where I was supposed to turn, it was CLEARLY marked. How I missed it, I have no idea. I have been fortunate that my bike courses have been straight out-and-back deals, so no confision there. For me, I tend to get a bit "in my head" on the bike and focus a bit too much on things like my rpms, speeds, what gear am I in, when do I need a gel, etc. I'd be in real trouble if I also had to think about the course at the same time. Oh, wait, I was, two races ago, where I missed preparing for a speed bump and DNFed -- had to get 8 stitches in my right arm. Don't beat yourself up over it. There are only 2 things you can do about your mistakes: - learn from them - leave them behind Go train! |
