Subject: Plantar Fasciitis.... HELP!Hey everyone, I am leading up to my third marathon on Sunday, May 15th. This past week during one of my training runs I just had a little twinge of pain in my arch of my left foot and it went away fast and had no problems. This morning was my last long training run before the marathon. Around mile 4 or so, I started to have a dull ache in my arch when I was walking and then I started to feel it when I was running. By the end, around mile 8, it was pretty painful just to walk but actually felt better to run. I talked with the athletic trainer on site and she is thinking I am suffering from the beginning of plantar fasciitis. She reccommended lots of icing, taking anti-inflammatories and stretching of my calf, shin and toes. She said I would also be okay if I don't run this week but if I need to to take walks to deal with the stress taper brings. I REALLY want to run next weekend but I also have an Ironman in September so I don't want to ruin that. Does anyone have any other reccommendation or tips? Does this sound about right? This whole thing is really messing with my mind right now. Kind words and encouragement would be great too. Also do you think biking and swimming would be okay this week? Thanks!!!!!! |
