 I'm getting excited. half way through training. I want to go down to Malibu and do a brick on the course if anyone else is interested.

...and the long, annoying, no-passing zone before and after the turnaround at Deer Creek on the bike course.  (Lost a lot of time there last year stuck behind a much slower rider from an earlier wave.)

I can't run the race and it looks like the number isn't transferable.  Bummer.

Went well....parking was a little more packed than last year...tomorrow WILL be worse.

I got 2nd in AG....A bit disappointed losing first by 12 seconds....tough one to swallow.

I had an amazing race. I'm happy with my splits and felt great the whole time. The water and weather were perfect. Ocean was a little hard to go out and get back in and a little choppy for the swim by the time my wave headed out, and I got kicked in the face. Wouldn't be fun without that crazy ocean swim! I would definitely do this race again. I got 10th in my AG out of 48 which I'm super happy with because I just entered the 25-29 AG; I turn 25 this month!

Interesting day for me on Sunday...wasn't sure I could even race as late as Saturday morning (Grade II sprained foot on 9/4) and my time was almost a minute slower than last time (entirely due to my bike fitness being in the toilet right now).  But my overall placements were much better...first time in top 10% of AG and O/A at Malibu.

My wife and I had a nice chat with Ali from Biggest Loser at the Cannondale booth as the day was winding down...we're both big fans of the show and of her particularly and she was very enthusiastic and friendly (and the only celeb woman to do the whole tri this year).

Saw a multiple bike pile up at the second last speed bump in the parking lot , ambulances and firetrucks then quickly converged , Anyone know what happened to those riders ? Time was approx 8:30 (as i was just heading out of T1. going east)
Great weather , water was ideal : 65F calm , clear , small waves.
I am glad they had that pontoon bridge under PCH because when i last tried riding through there
i slipped and crashed in the water , harming my pride more than anything else.
A slight tailwind on the trip to Leo Carillo helped get me set a good pace early .
Spent more time in drops coming back , trying as much to cut the slight head wind as to drop a persistent rider sucking my rear wheel. He never passed me. Is it ok to be a bit mad at pulling a drafter along ?
Anyway very enjoyable day and race .
