1 | Subject: Men in (Compression) Tights I’m a guy, 6’2, 200 pounds, early 40s. Married with kids, living in suburbia. Can I pick your brain for a minute? If I go to the grocery store (or anywhere public) at midnight, can I wear a fleece hoodie pullover, white low-cut ankle socks, running shoes and long black Nike, Under Armour or 2XU compression pants…and NOTHING ELSE (including underwear)? Do you think I should toss on a pair of fleece running shorts over the leggings? What color shorts? Does color matter? And instead of white low-cut ankle socks, can I wear thick white slouch socks with the leggings tucked in (socks in size to fit)? How about this clothing combination for an overnight errand: a T-shirt, white low-cut ankle socks, running shoes and fleece shorts over three-quarter-length black tights (Nike, UA, Reebok, etc.). No underwear. Do men's three-quarter-length sports tights too closely resemble women's capri yoga pants when worn without athletic shorts? If any of this gear is unacceptable for the grocery store, what about a neighborhood jog at 5:30 in the morning? Or the gym? Have you ever seen a guy wearing compression tights in public? Where? Was he discreet? Did others notice? Let’s assume all the clothing described here was made for men by reputable, family-trusted designers and sold in your local mall big box sporting goods store. No crossdressers, no gay porn, no pantyhose, no nylon, lycra or spandex fetish. Full disclosure: In the past year, I’ve replaced all my underwear with compression shorts. Someday all men will discover what I’ve learned and do the same. Sure, all your drawers will cost $25-$30 a pop, but the comfort makes ’em worth every penny! Also: I’m not trying to show off my bulge (not much to show anyway). |

When you sign on for this sport, you sign off on modesty and hello to spandex. That being said, that's during workouts. I'm not going grocery shopping like that. But hey, to the OP, rock on with whatever you're comfortable in. |

Master 2429 Falls Church, Virginia | Subject: RE: Men in (Compression) Tights Today I learned that apparently I'm supposed to be giving a crap what other people wear to the grocery store. I think it is way worse when people stink horrifically of unwashed spandex when they go out in public. I don't care what you wear, but I don't want to smell you when I'm trying to buy food. |

701 | Subject: RE: Men in (Compression) Tights That's not such an issue for me. But, I do waffle on weather to go into the store wearing Ranger panties. I must confess, I have done it. First time was on a dare/challenge from my wife. Now, I just find them too comfy and don't mind wearing them for awhile after working out. |

1 | Subject: RE: Men in (Compression) Tights I say do whatever your comfortable in wearing. I certainly day you don't need to dress for others. I to sometimes run errands around town in the same attire. I say it's me being and if others don't care for it not my problem. As long as you can't see thru the pants then your fine. If woman can around wearing leggings so can men. Yes we have equipment as men just as woman have on the top and doesn't stop them from wearing tops that are tight. Rock with your tights and don't worry so much what others say. |

Extreme Veteran 695 Olathe | Subject: RE: Men in (Compression) Tights I get harassed by the girls HS cross country team on my AM runs wearing black running tights and a shirt.. and it's still mostly dark. That was enough shame I wear running shorts over any tight situation, but I don't wear tights any other times. Now... my yoga pants... that's another thread. |

Veteran 485 Elmira, ON | Subject: RE: Men in (Compression) Tights You can wear what you want...but get ready for the snickers behind your back. And yes... people do snicker and giggle and talk. Especially men wearing tights in their middle aged crisis. The kid with the pants half way down his butt walking around like a gangster...people snicker at him. So you better believe when a man walks with tights on through a store...thats a step above! Look I own all the fancy stuff too. But its for a place and a time. That time is competition/training. I've never seen serious or elite athletes wearing this stuff out in public...its always just the posers or those who want to be noticed and hungry for some sort of attention. I put it in the category of "the ladies who wear there yoga outfits and carry there mats with them through the mall" category. Edited by TheCrownsOwn 2018-05-17 6:37 AM |
