Hi!

I will be in Yuma next week for work and am looking for a place to swim and a trail to run.  Any tips?

Thanks a bunch!

I don't know of any BTers in Yuma...are there any?  Speak up!

The Colorado River flows through there...how about a nice current swim? Just don't get washed all the way down.

Wow. Yuma?  I am not sure of any of us BTrs are from Yuma....but maybe someone from Tucson knows a little something.  Or Jerry....don't you have to go down there some times for work?

Anyway....we'll try to help!

I googled Yuma lap pool and came up with:

Marcus Pool - MARCUS PARK/POOL 500 5th Avenue - 2 acres; 25-meter heated pool.

5th St & 5th Ave
Yuma, AZ 85364

Thanks guys.  After some research, I was able to find three lap pools.  I've sent an email to the Yuma parks and recs to find out open lap swim time.  I also found a map of the local trails.

If anyone else is familiar with Yuma...feel free to leave any other information you think I would find useful.  I really appreciate it!

lol...maybe I should stick to running on a treadmill in my safe hotel!  j/k

Actually...I'm a little nervous about scorpions.  I've never had to worry about them before and have heard some horror stories from my cousins that live in Fountain hills.

I work for a public sector software company and we're installing some new stuff for the city of San Luis.  It should be an interesting week!  Hot, if anything!

LOL! Don't let your cousin scare you.

According to CDC stastics, your chance of drowning in a 5 gallon bucket is MUCH, MUCH greater than being stung by a scorpion or dying from it. The hospitals in Fountain Hills and Yuma aren't exactly over flowing with patients bitten by scorpions

Enjoy your stay there!

In the 12 years I have lived here I have only seen 1 little baby scorpion, outside, under a rock.  BUT....the flip side to that is my aunt who built a house right up next to a farm field and their house is infested with them! They have to use a black light to scan the bed before they go to sleep! NO WAY!

If you are worried....the main thing they say to do is when you get dressed in the morning...to make sure you shake your clothes and shoes out before putting them on.  Oh, and call poison control if you get stung.

That's all the helpful and non-scary information I have for now.

Hahahaha!

You seem to be pretty tight with the CDC are you calling them our are they trying to keep tabs on you to control outbreaks?

I have been stung abunch but I was playing wth them. It leavse a metal taste in your mouth and maybe some nausiea but it will pass in like an hour. And the spot will burn at first then itch. They are not that bad. But remeber the bigger the better. The babies have more potent sting. Chances are you will not see any. And if you are running you won't need to worry they are real slow.
