Triathlon shorts for all 3 parts

I'd just like to add that I've had Pearl Izumi's tri shorts for a year now and I love them. They still feel good as new. I've never worn them in a pool before (same reason as above) but I don't believe chlorine could hurt them too seriously.

Get polyester jammers for pool training. Only use the tri shorts for one or two practices and for races. They will become see-through within about 3-6 months if you swim in them regularly. Yes they cost about $5-10 more but they'll literally last years.

These are what you're looking to practice in. Remember, polyester and/or PBT. Do NOT buy lycra or spandex for regular pool swimming.

I use the BT Gear LG shorts, they are fine for pool races (I wouldn't train in them much), supposed to have more chlorine-resistance than normal tri shorts.  Also are very comfy on the bike & run. 

I have a pair of Sugoi tri shorts that were $35, so relatively cheap. I used them for my first tri which was a pool swim and they were fine. However for training in the pool I have a pair of Zoot jammers, those were about $45 bucks but they should last quite a while even with the chlorine.

I was also wondering this..   good info everyone.   I am also wondering what are good shorts since my saddle kills me in the arse.

x3 for polyester for the pool. I went through 3 pairs of normal lycra type suits last fall in the pool. Picked up one of the polyester ones in January and it still is good as new.

Lots of reviews of the different tri shorts in previous posts, with differing opinions on comfort/fit.  Comes down to personal preference.  Since we don't have a decent tri-store in town I've ordered one or more of the major brands over the last year to compare them.  Not the most economical way to find out what works best, but ends up making it easier to keep up not having to wash them every day for training.

For a quick comparison for a few of my shorts and opinions:

Zoot Ultra  - thinnest pad. Great running short, less comfort overall on the bike for distance.
DeSoto Forza - best overall for me so far. Comfortable padding for the bike but no so much to notice running. Wore these for the HIM.
Oomph Distance - most padding for the bike and comfort. Almost too much padding for running, or at least noticeable.

The Louis Garneau shorts have pretty good padding for the bike, and it's not noticeable on the run. 

Always take a quick rinse off lukewarm shower after a pool swim, with your tri shorts ON!

I don't know about pool use, but Aevero makes a great pair of Tri shorts. I even wore a pair for the second leg of the MS150 from St. Augustine to Daytona last year.  The prices are the best, plus right now they are throwing in a free bike jersey with every purchase. Got to love forums, was just thinking about this question this morning, and I too train in a pool.  First sprint coming up this august, was wondering about what type of tri shorts to purchase, I will look into everyone's leads here, thanks.
Also, I was thinking about what to wear for a top, have heard mention of buying somehting like an underarmour top, sleeveless, would swimming in that be too much of a challenge, or simply swim shirtless, then put the underarmour top on for bike?

Curious about thoughts, or anyone who has tried this
