I am going to San Diego in a few weeks.  I plan on swimming and running while I am there.  I would love to bike but don't won't to mess with shipping my bike.  If anyone from there can give me a couple of places to go swim that would be very helpful.  I will be there for five days. My wife will be there for a business conference so I will need to keep myself busy while she is at meetings.  I have been reading where San Diego is an awesome place to bike.   Any information I can get will help.  I don't know anything about San Diego.  Thanks for the help.

That place looks awesome.  Do a lot of people swim there?  I plan on swimming early so maybe I will meet some people out there.  Thanks for the website and info.

Not from there but I go there pretty often. In addition to the cove, I swim at La Jolla Masters at the outdoor pool right next to the high school.

Thanks.  I will look that place up to while I am there.  I think we are leaving on a Wednesday.  I think the date is the 14th or 15th of Oct.  We are staying until Sunday.  I plan on swimming at least two days and running the rest.  Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info.  I will look the tri club up when I get there.  I will  plan on going thursday morning (Oct. 15th) and try it out.  I looked up San Diego Beaches and it looks awesome.  It for sure beats training in a pool.

I went to San Diego in June and I was smack in the middle of training so I had to ride.
I rented a really good bike at Nytro, a tri shop in encinitas. I think it was ~$65 for the day and I just rode along the coast, great view, dedicated bike lane, it was amazing. You can rent a road bike or tri bike. I brought my bike fit specs and they adjusted the bike for me, put pedals on and gave me an emergency flat kit.

If you have the time and access to a car, you should look into it.  Encinitas was super easy to get to, and just about 30 minutes north.

Enjoy San Diego!

I was just doing a search online for a bike rental place.  That is a really big help.  Thanks.

Nytro has a good selection of Tri and Road bikes. I used to life a few minutes away from their store and would frequent them often.

San Diego is the best place to live.  You can run, bike, almost 365 days year.  On a Saturday, you can't run 20 feet without tripping over a cyclist.

I recommend taking a surfing lesson if you have the time.  San Diego Surf Academy is about 10 minutes up the road from Nytro (in Carlsbad) and with the large foam boards, you'll be up in no time.
