How is everyone keeping their motivation up this fall and plans for this coming winter?

I'm registered to run some 5Ks. I'm also married to a triathlete who doesn't believe in "off season" and that keeps me motivated as well, not to mention some great athletes on this forum whom I'm in contact with.

Having variety in my activities helps get me out the door.  I'll be more focused on actual swim, bike, run in the new year, for now I just go out and do what excites me.

If I wanna make the switch from du's to tri's, I gotta swim like a mad man all winter, not to mention build up my run for a half mary in the spring and a 200km bike ride in the summer.

So far I have been doing much to motivate myself.  I have started a spinning class, which is given at my local Cervélo dealer, my first one and I like it very much.  I intend on doing one per week and supplementing that with one or two rides on my trainer per week.  I was running frequently but now that the snow has arrived I sort of dragging my behind ... maybe do a run this afternoon.  I will start swimming again in January.  Also, I haven't done any x-country skiing in 10 years and intend to start again this year.

Building and executing my off-season training plan and working on my half ironman one keeps me motivated and excited about the next season.

My A race is in February... and there only 18 people can swim, and I'm like the 19th so far. That's enough motivation.

Is training for distraction, or will you be racing against her and don't want to get chicked?

Subject: RE: How are you keeping motivated?

currently, i have a nice camping trip booked with my family at the end of the summer. i am going up with a group of friends (that has kept me uber motivated for the summer). all my highschool friends only saw me in a uniform and by a computer. i am going up with my boyfriend and 5 other friends and parents.

what i like to do, is 2-3 times a month, take a picture of myself - from different angles and what not... and if i am every feeling not as motivated to go out and swim at 6AM i look at those pictures - of what i used to look like. lastly my temporary plan is complete a 1/2 Ironman some time next summer.
