Warrior run, Spartan race, Tough mudder???

It's much more as that sort of race should be. Tongue-in-cheek and still an outstanding accomplishment. IMO, those trying to recreate it here in the States do a horrible job of capturing the true spirit of the race. Far too commercialized and just not all that.

Do the winter one. You won't regret it. 

The warrior run is not a hard run at all, it is more about the experience and is just for fun really.  I am not sure about the spartan run.  Tough mudder is just plain crazy.  So clearly the tough mudder. 

My friend did Tough Mudder, and he said it wasn't all that hard. He wasn't overly impressed.

I have done 2 tough mudders and they are not hard at all.....its just different, its fun if you do it in a group, the obstacles are different and most people are not used to it so thats what may make it challenging.....the other races you mention are probably easier than TM......

Just did a TM. It's really not hard. I felt like if you could run 3 miles you could do a TM. An Oly tri is wayyyy harder than a TM. Hardest part for me was being so F'ing cold! I didn't like being that cold and wet, so I'm gonna stick with tri's and running races. I'm mean air temps of about 40 and jumping into a dumpster filled with water and ice! Not the way you want to start your day. Oh and the electro shock therapy is realllll fun. This event is definitly about the commroderie and experience.

Did the Warrior Dash in Wisconsin this September.  We spent more time waiting to try the obstacles than we spent doing them.  Think of it as an excuse to dress crazy and drink beer. 

I've done the Super Spartan...it was pretty hard. Don't know about the others but in the SS any obstacle not completed resulted in a 30 burpee penalty...not so fun, i think I ended up doing 150 that day. It was a total blast though, loved every minute of the mud, sweat, and more mud!

I've never done one, but I have shot at all 3, and can say without a doubt for similar distances the spartan races are brutal. Not only are there more than just obsticals (some you have to move, carry thing,s etc), but for anything you cannot do you have 30 burpees to do. and a lot of the shorter ones are up and down mountains as well. Never seen people so wrecked on short races.

I've done the Warrior Dash twice.  It was very easy...I won my wave both times.  Think 5k with a few little obstacles in the way.  Tough Mudder...a little tougher.  10miles up and down the ski slopes.  My 10mi time from a recent 10mi race was 1:02.  My Tough Mudder time was 1:40...I was in the first wave of the day and finished 3rd overall.  Honestly, it was a blast.  I liked the change in pace of training and racing.  But I only did it because I didn't have an A race on tap...I would have been too worried about injury if I had.  Never done the Spartan, but have a friend who said the obstacles were extremely difficult.  

Join the military and get paid to do those sorts of things.

Having things blow up around you while trying to crawl around under barb wire adds an additional element of excitement.

K, I've got a ???; for anyone who's done one.  What's the appropriate/req'd clothing and footwear.  Yes, I understand you'll get wet/muddy.  I've done the MudRuns, etc. in combat boots.  I understand there may be some swimming involved in the Spartan.

No question in GA - Tough Mudder. Warrior and Spartan are both less than 4 miles. Mudder was over 12 miles.

What to wear? Nothing you'll ever want to wear again. My clothes and shoes went into the trash at the park. I did wear an old tri suit becuase we did have to swim and crawl and other stuff for which I didn't want to have to worry about keeping my clothes in place for. One tip - Don't wear shoes with Yankz. After the third time I had to reach down and pull my shoe out of the mud and shove it back on my foot, I had to break my Yankz and tie my shoes to my feet. Ankle and calf deep mud will suck the shoes right off your feet if they aren't tight enough.
