Subject: Hair Clipper Recommendation
I am tired of going to the barber every other week, and really think I should start going every week. I like to get it basically shaved, with no guard on the clippers, I have gradually worked my way down to the no guard after several years. Now I feel the two week growth looks sloppy. I don't want to go to the barber shop every Saturday morning.

I want to find a good quality clipper that is easy to use at home. I will probably cut it myself, my wife has done it a few times, but doesn't really like to do it. Any good suggestions? Anything I can use in the shower?

Just a couple other things. I have a full head of hair and probably won't be losing it anytime soon, I just like the look of the really close top. I'm 37 and have the same hairline I did when I was 15. It's dead straight, but there is a lot of it. I don't want to go down to a blade that shaves it clean.

So let's hear your thoughts. Thanks

Wahl.  I've been using the same one for 6 years.  I also haven't paid for a haircut in about 10 years..

I second the Wahl. Great product. I use the Wahl Home Pro Complete.

I wonder how much they vary in quality?

But I have had my Wahl for 20+ years.

My step mom cuts hair for a living.  She uses an Oster Classic 76 ( Heavy Duty ).  It will cost you a little over $100.

Wahl here too. Mine is just like the one in the link only chrome and black. I have had it for 10 years and it hasn't missed a beat. Never sharpened or anything.

Ok, I guess it's time to get the Wahl out of the closet and just get to it. Do you use any oil on it before or after use? Any tips on not scalping myself, getting to the tricky areas?

Thanks

Always use the guard when clipping around the sack...

Oh, wait, that's not what you meant. Nevermind...

2 mirrors so you can see the back, or a friend to come and check for you.  Dont start thinking you can tell which bits youve missed by feeling it, you cant, you will look like an idiot.  Not that I would do anything like that.

Wahl balding shears.  Cuts very close, a little less for giving than some of the other models when it comes to cutting yourself.  I will never buy a different clipper.

Just had ton add that I have always used Wahl clippers on my husband..... the dog grooming style. They're worked great all these years and he sits still much better than the dogs ever have Laughing. He was actually jealous of the dog's when I first cut their hair, asked to be next and we've never gone back!

I'm surprised the thread got ten responses without anyone mentioning "personal" grooming! Because we all know that BT'ers love to dole out tips on trimming junk and whatnot.
