Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So what next? I have tried the Airone which gave me numbness, and now I have spent about 4 months on an Adamo and cant find a way to survive long rides without spending alot of time out of the saddle. I have always read that the Adamo is THE saddle to fix comfort issues, but after my latest HIM this past weekend, I just cant do it any longer. I dont experience any numbness with the Adamo, rather my butt just gets extremely sore after about the first hour. Ive got about 7 weeks to go until IMKY so need to get something figured out soon! Whats next to look at? |

Sneaky Slow ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I also tried an Adamo and I couldn't take the soreness, either. Mike (mdg2003) was kind enough to see a post where I complained about it and sent me his used Profile Design Tri Stryke saddle. That alleviated numbness for me on outdoor rides. Still get numb on the trainer though. |

Whats next to look at? Do you have a good shop nearby? I am in the midst of selecting a new saddle, and they let me sample 4-5 seats during my last visit, and I left with one of them to try out for a couple of weeks. I haven't paid for anything yet. I will return this weekend to try another one long term. Do you have a shop nearby that will do this for you? |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The Selle SMP saddles are supposed to be good. But very pricey. Look like a Concorde drop nose plane with an open cut out slot down the middle. |

x2. If you can't find a saddle that works, it is probably a fit issue. As one person mentioned talk to the LBS and see if they will let you try out a few saddles. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I had a good bike fit done about a month and a half ago. So should have been plenty of time to adjust my butt to the saddle in the new position. He did tell me to call him back once I have put a few hundred miles in on the bike and we would look at making any adjustments needed. I am planning on doing that for sure, just farming for some advice on new hardware if the saddle turns out to be the culprit. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Are you sitting to far back on the thing to take advantage of the cut-out? It should feel like riding a 2X4 the first 5-7 rides. Try riding more forward on the saddle on your next ride. Assuming your LBS fit it properly, you might be compensating for the uncomfortable break in period by sitting too far back. By break in I mean your sit bones and not the saddle itself! This saddle will feel like a big mistake for the first several rides until your butt gets used to it. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I can't highly enough recommend the Selle SMP. I use the Evolution model (lightest with padding). I was having comfort problems with the stock Felt saddle on my B12 and had always wanted to try the SMP, but baulked at the cost. Anyway, I wasn't prepared to take the discomfort so found a used SMP on Ebay at a reasonable price and got it. Well, let me tell you, the first ride in the saddle was amazing. I thought the saddle on my road bike was comfortable (stock Argon 18 saddle). The Selle SMP feels almost like I'm sitting on air. Even after a 40 mile ride there is no pain, discomfort or numbness. It did take a couple of itterations to dial it in. DO NOT follow the instructions and have the top of the beak level with the back - that's just asking for trouble. I have the centre section horizontal and it's fantastic. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have a Selle SMP as well but a different version. It was great to start with and solves some issues then I started getting saddle sores in dong 6.5+ hour rides ..my fit guy had me lower my saddle 5 mm which helped some. I find one saddle fixes some problems but gives me others. It is the worse of two evils. My doc has me on antibiotics and 3 of my saddle sores are sort of nasty and IMLP is Sunday..oh joy I hope they improve fast. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() specalized toupe if you want a thin saddle (i know if looks hard but it is an amazing tri seat) if you want big and soft, check the profile tri stryke |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Where exactly are you getting sore/numb? I still can fell the adamo on my sit bones but not my tender bits. I don't think any seat can take away all soreness but personally if I have to chose between sit bones or tender bits, I will take sit bones being sore.

Coach ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() have you tried the adamo road version or the typhoon. I know more than a few that couldn't handle the racing model (me) but are ver comfortable on the road version (a bit more padding) and the typhoon is heavy but very cushioned. Another option might be the flow or mo'flow (both by balckwell), many triathletes enjoy that saddle very much. I am going to try the mo'flow as my next saddle: http://www.onetri.com/blackwell-research-flow-saddle-p-3335.html |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() To respond to a few other posters ... I have the Adamo Road saddleThe pain is clearly on my sit bones, a knife like pain after only about 45 minutes into the ride. Bad enough where I have to get out of the saddle.I sit very close to the edge of the seat so that my bits are hanging in the breeze.I have experimented with moving the saddle forward, up and tilting the nose down, and moving my sit bones forward and aft and still have not found comfort.I got a new pair of Sugoi RS shorts with a thick pad and bag balmed for my last 112 mile ride ... It provided a minor amount of relief.I'm going to try a airone saddle and tri stryke, but only about 25 days from IMKY so nervous about making changes but the pain is taking ALL enjoyment out of the bike leg.Appreciate the feedback thusfar. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() i've been on the mo'flow by blackwell for about 450 miles and have a 100 miler in and i have had no issues what so ever it has the cut out...it is narrow all the way back and there is a drop down on the nose... i have been using the arione and our rep for blackwell wanted me to try the mo'flow and the adamo... i can tell you if you are not sitting correctly on the adamo you will hate it..also if you are sitting correctly it will take time for your sit bones to get used to it... remember your neck muscles when you wen't from road to tri...it takes time to stregthen the new muscles. good luck |
